We did year round schooling as well. 9 weeks on 3 weeks off x4 then 1 month off. It worked very well for us. I'm a homeschool nana now. ~ Gina

Lol I have not gotten any school supplies! We have more then enough for everyone just from the years past. All I need to get is one 7th grade math workbook. And I am with you sister for enjoying the nice weather while it lasts! We don't start school till almost October. Over the years I have adopted a minimalist homeschool approach. The less stuff I have to buy the better.

The deep purge goal sounds like a wonderful idea! We have a small house and I am getting overwhelmed. I need strategies and encouragement to get the kids to help clean out. I too don't buy school supplies other than some notebooks and folders. We do most of the work online.

Yes, l too can relate to the power of having a minimalist home. Our family had planned on moving to Portugal so in May l got us down to a suitcase each. God is leading us another way so we’ll be entering into an empty home. As excited as l am for this next chapter, l’m also equally nervous about how quickly the clutter with collect and create chaos. I vote yes to creating videos around keeping a minimalist home. 🙌🏻

Homestead stuff is always great to learn about!!! I love how you mention the dogs and then there's the sound of dog paws coming down the hall in the background. 😄 We have lots of ADHD as well and are aiming for minimalism. Unfortunately for our (pre teen) daughter started to show much more severe symptoms with puberty. We did not want to put her on RX but were desperate. Now we do an early cup of organic green tea. I have to make her sip it, and if she doesn't get it until later in the AM we might only do half a cup. She isn't showing signs of addiction, she doesn't have it every day. But it's about 4-6 days a week and so far it's been a positive difference.

I have a 10th grader, a 5-6th? grader, a 2-3nd? grader, a 1st grader and a baby on the way. I'm a little iffy on what grade to say my boys are because they took longer learning to read. We do Easy Peasy which I love because it's very minimalist. We have kept working on reading during the summer a bit and we count all the time we are at church camp towards their required school days.😊

I love the idea of a deep clean, deep purge. We are going to sprinkle this in because I’m seeing that the things we had are starting to get in the way of our learning and our time. We are planning on selling our house and downsizing with 4 kiddos and potentially taking an RV trip for a year. I can’t wait to see your progress and hear about it! The Bible study guide looks neat! ❤ Until Middle School I had to attend Catholic school, and we studied the Bible (though they definitely took a lot out of a Christian context). I had a step dad that had us read every week from the KJV. The last few years my husband and I study the Bible quite often. But could always use more! There's just so much in the Bible. Sometimes I feel embarrassed I forget certain things that I've read several times. Not one of those people that typically remembers what book has what verse I like etc. Though I've become better! 😊 I've heard of many people that study the Bible many times over as scholars. Definitely can give a re-read! 💛 It's interesting how the Bible is the most translated book, most sought after book, most debated, most hated, and most loved "book" in history. I think that alone is something to marvel at when it comes to God's word. 🙏🕊️🌈✨

Except the littlest one we can pick up homeschool without anything really. Only because he's struggling in handwriting so i got materials together for that. At most I do lots of printing books. And we just do our work.

Would you all recommend homeschooling if I have only 1 child? Kinda worried about social skills and interaction.

You can probably find local homeschool groups to socialize. We used to be in a co-op when my kids were younger. Now we just get together with other homeschool families from church or the area and go skating or go to a park. We go skiing, biking and camping with a family or 2 from our church.

1,000%!!! Yes! It is SO important! And socialization is everywhere- not just with other kids. With you, with people in the grocery store, with people at the park-- also why we host our co-op classes online for others to come join and work with their peers. You are actually teaching social skills just meeting people on walks, doing excursions, going to the supermarket, going to the park, getting together with family and friends, church, meeting neighbours, etc. Social skills is a lie from the enemy to justify us putting our children into the system.

Consider..children really don't learn social skills in public schools being around a few children of their own age vs home schooling and all age groups

That's just for those that wanted to preorder all the resources (year of Old & New Testament studies, Psalm studies, memory passages, special focuses each month, etc....) and get the 12 months of all the things in one bundle. You can pick the pieces you want and get them at a lower price point-- just depends on what you're looking for. :)

It's just things we do and use to help other families-- no business here. Just simple resources for homeschool families, and ways we tackle life that we share in case they can be a help for someone else. ☺️ Unless we're missing the boat on all the other homeschool mom's in KZfaq land that made "minimizing" their back to homeschool curriculum plans this month?
