Havent had much experience with the hornady black stuff. I shoot 99% of the time my reloads. As your channel grows and the Lord allows, id reccomend getting into reloading. It def is a rabbit hole, but it will open up so much more possibilities for you not to mention its just satisfifying. Really enjoying these 22 Arc series you're doing. I've been very interested in the round. Gonna watch your journey with this round closely. Thanks again sir!

That's excellent! It makes me so happy to know that what I've been doing is helping people make their decisions. Even knowing just a handful has made it all worth every second!.... And yes sir I plan to get into reloading in the future, I do not have the space for a reload station at my residence currently. But in the future it is going to happen and I plan to document that into this youtube journey as well! Thank you for your kind words my friend!

The first 6.5 grendel ammo the bullets were set out to far but now the new stuff is good in 6.5 grendel, 6arc, and 22 arc
@SteelrunnerАй бұрын
I think you may be right about that. Because this batch of Black ammo surprised me. Might have to revist the other calibers with fresh ammo. Lol

I’ve had great luck with hornady black 123 eldm in Grendel. In my bolt 6 arc it shoots ok, in my gas 6 arc it shoots like crap.

Somethin to consider, ive seen fair size accuracy swings with gas system adjustments. I found this messing with carbine and a5 buffer systems, springs and adj gas blocks trying to dial in a couple builds to be super flat and soft shooting. One of them was sub moa overgassed with the a5, drop gas down and it fell off to over 1.75moa. Another build only shot well gassed perfectly, under or overgassed it would open up. Verified w a locked down vice to take myself out of it. Wish i had a chrono to see what there was for velocity diff if any.
@SteelrunnerАй бұрын
Wow that's crazy. I've never noticed much difference when adjusting the gas but it theoretically I guess could make a difference. The pressure in the gas port is somewhere around 12,500 psi and that varies a bit, but that is alot of psi that could ave been absorbed.

6.5 grendel hornady black shoots amazing out to 600 in my 24 inch AR, farthest range I have.I bought 1000 rounds of it, does well out of my 20 inch also.

Haven’t tried the black just yet but I have some on order. I think the first thing I’m gonna do once I get it is pull it apart and see if I can figure out what powder they’re using. I’m using the same bullet in my 6 arc and it’s a hammer. On a side note one of the channels I watch was noticing some velocity differences from Hornadys new stuff. (Ran a bit slower) so he reached out and the response he got was that they’ve been having issues getting powder so they tested a bunch of different stuff to find something comparable (accuracy) and switched to a different powder in the short term. But like they said it’s either stop production or switch. I think they made the right call and happy they were honest about it

That's definitely some good information to know. I never knew they were having those issues. Now that probably explains why it was taking so long for them to start producing the Black line of ammo in the .22 ARC... Maybe it also explains some of the inconsistencies I've had in the past with it as well.... Hopefully it all gets worked out.

I’m wanting to test out the 22arc in a bolt gun. Really want the 22 creed but for my needs the ARC would be fine. Also - for the range you shoot at and your setup you could get away with one of the cheaper Caldwell chronos. Not as fancy but they work.
@SteelrunnerАй бұрын
The .22 ARC so far has performed well... The .22 Creed I'm sure is faster but probably has a slightly longer action. It's always nice to weigh your options and only you know what is right for you.... Going to be doing some sort of penetration/expansion video in the next couple of weeks, Hopefully that will help you further with your desicion ... And yea I think the Caldwell would be fine for the chronograph testing. It seems most of the feedback I've gotten most people want to see the Garmin results. If the stars all align I'm gonna try and give the viewers what they want to see. But we will see! For that they will have to wait a little longer because it is quite expensive.
@connerm4850Ай бұрын
@@Steelrunner ah there’s plenty of videos of the Garmin out there. Do what’s best for you. The Caldwell works, and that’s more money you save for ammo

I have the Black in 450 Bushmaster. It shoots fine. I think the black series of ammo is made for the AR platforms vs bolt guns.
@SteelrunnerАй бұрын
That's great. Come to think of it I used to have a 450 bushmaster in an AR platform and it did well with the Black ammo as well. Can't believe I forgot about that. Thank youn for reminding me. Glad it has been good for you as well!

I've been running 6 ARC for a while now and have a 22 ARC barrel on the way that Faxon is sending me. I reload and just shoot hornady black for the brass but I've always got 1.25 to 1.75 moa out of it.
@Steelrunner26 күн бұрын
That's Awesome! I think I'm starting to build some more confidence in it. I've been saving all my brass as well. When I have the room I'm going to set myself up a reloading station and really tweak the performance.... Good news though I have a chronograph on the way that should be here any day now... Gonna post a video of the chronograph speeds as soon as I get it in! BTW I love the 6 ARC as well. Lol

I really like Hornady bullets, but I'm not sold on their factory ammo. I have one rifle that likes a Hornady factory offering. Actually, that is a discontinued ammo, the 7mm Remington Magnum Hornady 154 grain Interbond. So, right now I don't buy any Hornady factory ammo. I'm using Barnes for medium game and handloads for varmints.

Ya I had the same issue with 6.5 Grendel and the h- black
@SteelrunnerАй бұрын
It's definitely a losd to avoid!

Like you, I've never been able to get Hornady ammo to perform. Never had any load in grendel, Creedmoor, 5.56 do better than an ES of 90 fps. That isn't even close in my book to being usable.

Try the 120 grain eld-m in the Grendel……..works so much better

Are they handloaded? I've only ever seen the ELD-M in the 123 grain.
