My Hatsan 135 QE vortex .25 caliber break barrel air rifle shooting H&N 22 grain hornet pellets is similar ballistically to the CCI .22 CB rounds. I’m getting about 29 or 30 foot pounds of energy from it at the muzzle. I have a penetration video I made of it shooting at 3 back to back plastic gallon water jugs posted on my channel. The hornet pellet deposited a lot of energy into the first water jug and partially ripped it when exiting it and it poked a hole in the other side of the second jug but didn’t exit it. In another penetration test I did that I didn’t record from 20 yards away I shot a hornet through an unopened gallon container of Hawaiian Punch. I used to have a Diana 350 magnum .22 air rifle that when shooting a domed JSB 18.13 grain pellet from it with about 23 or 24 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle from 20 yards away at an unopened gallon container of Hawaiian Punch the pellet wouldn’t exit it so that extra 5 or 6 foot pounds of energy my new gun is putting out definitely makes a difference. Plus with that Diana 350 magnum .22 shooting the domed pellet it wouldn’t poke a hole in the other side of the second jug or partially rip the other side of the first jug when doing a similar penetration test

When testing ammo penetration, always use the same type bullet for comparison. Don't compare hollow points with solids.

Another fine study courtesy of Bubba Labs. This was actually very helpful as I've been researching .22 short and subsonic ammo. I'm surprised the subsonic .22 lr penned but not the high velocity .22 short. The bullet weight doesn't seem like it would make that big a difference. Have you tried subsonic .22 short in hollow point?

Looks like the cb shorts should be fine for Rats, except for sight adjustment . A Pellet rifle just seems a whole lot hassle free.

The CCI HP Short is subsonic as well, at 1105fps. They all are. I don't think there were ever any supersonic shorts made, but I could be wrong. Why didn't you include a high and hyper velocity 22LR as well?
