These videos are in no way meant to replace the purchasing of commercially produced DVDs of SCTV. Making this series available is in no way meant to break copyright law. I am hoping fans of the series will have renewed interest in SCTV and will spread the word about this Classic Canadian Comedy Legend.
I have included all 185 episodes of the Syndicated Series of SCTV. Please note that the Syndicated Series has material not available on the current crop of DVDs, and also that the DVDs have material not available in the Syndicated Series. Please note that there is also material not available in either.

ALL of the SCTV personalities were brilliant and funnier than anything before or since. No one has ever made me laugh like Joe Flaherty! He has always been my favourite and I could never explain or put my finger on it....But watching sketches and full shows on youtube for the past? years, I can see it was Eugene Levy who was the glue, (along with Andrea and Catherine), that moved the show along. Just so talented. I will be 56 in 2 days, so I suppose Joe is my comic hero for life!

"Maudlin O'the Night" (10:06) was a spoof of a short-lived talk show from the 1980s called "Thicke of the Night" with Alan Thicke--that was supposed to challenge the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson--it ultimately tanked

The guy with the hat, the stick and the squeaky voice is Ron James, a Canadian comedian who has (had?) his own series of specials on CBC a few years ago.

I'm constantly amazed at how SCTV was so good at doing parodies of television and films. They picked up on all the smallest details of whatever type of show they were doing a parody of, like the SCTV News promo. The outdoor b-roll footage that was supposed to look authentic but you always knew the scenes of newsmen being "out in the street" and "involved" were staged, complete with earnest voiceovers. An amazing show. Thanks for uploading these!

Probably for a short time in America, but I don't remember seeing any season six episodes when TVLand aired SCTV reruns.

@@canaisyoung3601 Season 6 was the Cinemax season. Episodes should be 45 minutes. Not sure if this is part of an episode or something else (special or otherwise)

There were only 18 episodes produced at 45 minutes. Syndication reformatted them into 26 half-hour shows. @@riky2390

Sammy Maudlin character played by Joe Flaherty died on April 1st 2024 at age 82. John Candy up there with him working on new episodes.

Two things could have saved this iteration of the Maudlin show. One is, and I think you may know where I'm going with this as a fan of comedy in all seriousness, having Bobby Bittman as a guest on the show. His unique brand of comedy stylings was timeless - appealed to all generations young or old. The other is a better theme song, perhaps written by that accomplished song writer Irving Cohen. If I could pick a key for it, I'd do it in a bouncy C. It would go something like this:: Sammy Maudlin, Oh Sammy Maudlin He's on TV, but now now he's mod. So give a nod to Sammy Maudlin. Daa daa daa - whatever the hell else you want to put in there.
