Hey Logan, great video. You mentioned the seating ring your die leaves on the bullet. I shoot several valkyries including a UPR-15. I too have experienced the same ring. What I have found is when I run them through the F/L sizing die they are very tight. Heavy neck tension. When I load for my UPR-15 I run a F/L Bushing die with .002 neck tension and I don't get any ring. If I load for the Gas gun (AR-15) I run through a std Redding F/L die then through a Sinclair mandrel die. When I run the T/C die I run it a bit on the medium side. I know it works my brass a bit more than normal, but it tends not to leave the ring. My UPR-15 didn't like the heavier bullets either. It does shoot a Hornady 75 ELD-M and 80 ELD_M quites well. My gas gun with 20' barrel loves the 75gr ELD-M with IMR3031. I predominately run Hornady and Starline brass through my valkyries. The Federal brass seems to have higher inconsistencies and shorter life. Mainly the primer pockets.

I have a 224V AR 15. Ive only shot the 88grn Hornady ELD. Shooting at a 20X20 inch steel plate I hit 4 out of 5 at 1000 yards. At 100 yards it averages .75 inches. I changed from a 6.5 Grendel. Im a big fan of the 224 V. Thanks for the video.

Nice video. I was thinking the 224 Valkyrie died out. Anyone know how popular this cartridge is? From what I see, it lost all its marketing steam.

Hey Logan, nice video. One of my favorite bullets for 224 Valkyrie is the 85 grain Barnes Match Burners. The ogive is crazy far forward for the bullet length, so you can load them right off the lands. My OAL is 2.23; any longer and they won't chamber. These bullets give great groups, and I'm thinking it is because you can load them so close to the lands and still fit in the magazine.

I was a Valkyrie fan from day one. Initially was disappointed with the early results.

Hornady makes bullet specific seating stems for the eld to fit their custom grade dies and leave no ring. Heard that you can also polish the inside of the seating stem to correct that I recently bought the chargemaster link but I couldn't get it to throw a charge was drifting wildly and never stable no matter what I tried. Returned it for a rcbs uniflow 3 and a beam scale.

Yep will make sure to listen to a reloaded that can bearly stay on paper at 100 yards. Seemed yyuuuu

I think valkyrie is a great round. Keep reloading please till you get 1/4 moa groups.

Just got some staball match for this exact application!!! Interested in the results.

Hodgdon bought western powders which owned accurate. And hodgdon owns Winchester powders. The staball match likes the higher charge weights in my experience.

I had experimented with 88 grain ELD-M in 223, results are mixed with poor groups and velocity using CFE-223. I will try 224 valkyrie next.

I love your videos and hope you post lots more. I bet you would have better results if you tested in .2 grain increments instead of .5 grain increments. You may miss the node otherwise.

This is all very nice. However, I haven't seen any powder on the shelves here for well over a year. And all the powders that are common use are out of stock online. So perhaps a video on getting the manufacturers to do their job would be better served...... just saying

I love the Valkyrie content. I think it'd be worth loading 77gr if you can find it, seeing if you can get a consistent (but higher speed than 223) load out of 224V. I also think you should do tighter, .2gr powder jumps around where you thi,k your ideals are. It's more superstition but I feel like you should pull those 88gr back to 2.250 OAL, and see if 7 shots of that and 2.245 give you any notable changes in accuracy (5 shot isn't quite statistically representative).
