I've found brass prep to be pretty important meaning consistent dimensions. And yes we've all screwed up some aspect of reloading at some point. For my part I used mixed head stamp 1X fired range brass and it was a disaster. All I did was turn money into noise. I've shot Gunwerks and Starline brass sub MOA with the 69 gr SMK over H335 in a Savage bolt gun. I wish I could afford Lapua brass for everything. Thanks for bringing us along!

First time here! Nice channel. Hodgdon CFE223 tends to spike pressure really quick. I load it in 308 and 223. Temp stability by chart is a staggering 1.70 compared to IMR4064 which i use at .43. Varget .13 on one chart. This would change some with the area but i haven't ran into serious issues. Anyways I've had great accuracy with it in 308 Winchester under 175gr SMK. In Lapua brass lit with CCI #200 primers. 45.0gr to 46.0 shot to within ⅛ inch of exact POA @ 100 yards. I ran 46.0 with some minor flattening of primer. The velocities were phenomenal. I then dropped to 45.5gr and run that now. This load in a stock Savage FCP m10 shot less the .4 five shot groups in between 45.0 and 46.0 grain. in .2 increments. I have never seen that before. It has been out to 1200 yards with excellent accuracy in summer to fall weather. My health isnt the greatest so it limits me at times. I know most will find this hard to believe but this rifle 2 years ago, with lots of practice rain, wind etc. 3 to 5 evenings a week, teaching a friend long range, would bust clay pigeons from 800 to 1000 consistently.The temperature sensitivity that charts show is bad but with the results I have with my load and rifle are to good for me to change. Loading up a batch and putting them in the freezer overnight and another in outside day summer/fall temps would be a really interesting video. Of course all that can be loaded into your ballistic calculator in the end. Excellent content! New sub. Keep'em coming!

Good to see you back, Sorry it's took me a week to get it watched. I like Shooters World Match Rifle with this bullet. In a 22" bolt gun getting 2809fps (sd11) with a warm charge. It's defiantly a cheaper powder to try if you can find it.

you mentioned the round cooking, I've done some testing on that with a known good load. letting it sit for only 5 minutes didn't affect my velocity or groups. I suspect it takes longer than 5 minutes for the heat to be absorbed by the brass and the powder. I've also tested how long it takes for my ammo to cool down after its been sitting in my car. it took about an hour for it to fully cool down and the accuracy to come back. for the hell of it, in one of my f-class matches, I let a round sit for almost 10 minutes while I was waiting for a condition to come back. when I finally shot it, there was no issue on target.

You can remove your decapping and expander assembly from your resizing die and use like a body die or just your decapping pin I made a video recently where I bumped the shoulder back on already loaded reloads for 6mm Creedmore that were a few thousandths to long you should try shooters world match rifle powder my favorite not just for 5.56/.233 but 6ARC and some other cartridges I reload for as well too thx safe shooting
@WestDesertShooter

It would still undersize the neck and squeeze the projectiles. It works with a bushing die but not what I’m using with 223

@bnicedanicest6288 Жыл бұрын
@@WestDesertShooter yeah the die I was using was a bushing die did not think of that thx. If I remember correctly did you do a video on .224 Valkyrie speaking of the neck I was reloading for.224 Valkyrie using a RCBS small base sizer die for a semi I don’t know what kind of die you used if you did but the RCBS seems to make the neck to tight when I start to seat the bullet into the case neck it seems harder than normal to do and deforms the bullets with a ring around the bullet where the stem meets the bullet do you know if RCBS made them to tight I split the necks on more than a few seating bullets I even had that problem on new Starline brass thx

From a novice reloader, why are you chasing low SD when the groups look like crap ? Seems the low SD isn’t helping your group size. I’m not getting the correlation.
@WestDesertShooter

Ideally I’ll find a load with both. But shooting far consistent velocity gets more hits that the difference between a 1 inch or 3/4” group at 100 yards. I won’t be shooting CFE far until it shoots a moderate group but any of those 4895 loads would work well out to 800+ yards
