Using this engine for the Datsun 280zx so just wanted to check the compression; why do spark plug wires have to fight so hard..

This really wasn't intended to be an educational video, it was more of a filler video for the channel. I'll recreate the same test after I get this engine plugged up in the Datsun 280zx!! Not sure why this is getting recommended so much 😅 🤙

2004 silverado 1500 Z71 4x4 ext cab 6'6" bed. 5.3L + 4l60E. 313K. tested 8, 6, 4 and 2 today. 160 across "1/2" the board. will post back. thanks for verifying the number(s). after you removed the fuel pump relay it will naturally start unless it has already been sitting for long time and pressure had bled down. mine ran for like 2 whole seonds. thanks again

I have the same truck. You need to lift the truck up on jack stands remove the tires and the fender wells. You will have such an easier time reaching the spark plugs without anything in the way.

I’ll definitely try that next time! Hopefully they’re easier to get to in the Datsun 🤷‍♂️

It may be informative to your viewers if you explain how to disable the fuel pump to prevent the engine from starting. Also, I use a remote switch that I connect in place of the starter relay so I can watch my compression gauge and not have to go in the cab every time. I also do a "wet" test and a leak down test (if I see an issue with a cylinder). Just some suggestions that would be beneficial for your viewers on this specific topic and would increase your viewer base, since they search these channels to help them learn about specific things like "how to perform a compression test completely. Just a suggestion because I feel an educational video should actually be educational.

I think I'll make a better, more complete, version after I get everything buttoned up on the Datsun! This video was more of a "filler" video for the channel but I definitely appreciate the insight!! 👍

I don't have the time or patience to try to deal with a camera and create these type of channels but I have much respect for all who do. So many people learn a lot from guys like you who take the time to help others. Good luck with your channel....

what are your compression numbers for each cylinder? did you do a leak down test to see if the compression stayed at that level over a few minutes or did it leak down?

It did hold pressure for a few minutes but wasn't to concerned with the numbers since it ran decent before I pulled it
