One scene that sums Homer up for me is when he's trying to win tickets and Flanders wins instead and he gets angry/sad and hits the radio and then 'two tickets to Paradise' starts playing and he just sings and air guitars along to it. Just going with the flow of life.

I love that Homers way of getting out of jury duty was to tell them he's a racist ... I think that's what I miss about the older Simpsons seasons Homer was always an idiot an bad stuff always happened to him but he didn't used to be as stupid as he is now ... And this is part of a bigger issue they have taken all of the characters from this show stripped them of anything that made them interesting or funny and based their entire character on a single trait ... Bart and Homer were comedy gold now Barts a asshole and Homers a moron and that's all they are
