In this video, I take on the 100 Yard Challenge again, aiming for better results than my previous attempt. Watch as I share my experience and the adjustments I made to improve my accuracy with my trusty sub 12 foot pound springer airgun.
Join me, as I walk you through my shooting positions, choice of pellets, and the importance of understanding wind direction while attempting the 100 Yard Challenge. You'll see whether I managed to find success with the 35 mm target and how I had a go at a 25 mm one. Will I hit those targets? You'll have to watch to find out!
And hey, if you have any questions or suggestions about air rifle shooting or HFT, feel free to leave a comment below. I'd love to hear from you!

Well done Sport, you got there in the end and admitting little mistakes along the way is a big plus in my eyes. You accepted a challenge from a top shot and a guy how really knows how to analyse a situation.👍

Well, I'm impressed...not only with the result, but also your perseverance! Interesting to see that the springer behaved itself when used on a bag...great shooting and a really satisfying outcome. Good luck with the 100yd+ attempt, I'll be looking out for it. :)

great video , just a little heads up . Using the scopes turrets to the max will over stress the erector tube springs resulting in erratic zero shifts , To give yourself the best chance .Consider using adjustable mounts . This will allow you to rough zero using the adjustment of the mounts whilst leaving the turrets optically centered . Then use the turrets for fine zeroing . You will be supprised the difference it will make ,, keep the vids coming , love the channel ps you could try shimming the rear mount as a temporary measure

Thanks, I don't know how far I was from the turret limits. I think I had a bit more tolerance. 🙂👍

Maybe a wind indicator at the 100yrd Target might help. Tnx for posting.

Yes, that would have made all the difference, but against the rules of the challenge.

I hate shooters who blame the wind, wind happens deal with it, at my local range if windy they either don't turn up or leave, a good shot gets a feel for wind and subconsciously adjusts. Poor shooters who rely on their sights entirely and pre judged windages/elevations will never make a true marksman.
@hftshooter

That's me told off then! 😅 Thanks David. In my defense I did finally get the wind to make the shot. Difficult to judge when it's blowing completely opposite at the peg.

Great video and thanks for your efforts. Do you normally support the fore-end of the rifle on a bag and if so does it seem to work ok for you.
@hftshooter
@hftshooter 9 ай бұрын
Thanks. Not normally but it seemed to work okay in this instance. Usually I push the back of my hand against the peg with elbow on the ground and rest the rifle in the cup of my hand. Spoiler - see next week's video. 😉

Can you paint or polish the back of the pellet to see it’s trajectory ?
@hftshooter
@hftshooter 9 ай бұрын
I've seen someone do that with a PCP. When my springer fires it makes me blink so I don't even see the plate strike! 😁

@@hftshooter yes , I see your point . A PCP is so much smoother shooting . While we are on the subject . Any recommendations on a supplier for a high quality sub 12 foot pound springer conversion kit ? I am in the US and would like to reduce the recoil of my Weihrauch HW35E .

Do you thing a heavier pellet would help to not be as effected by the wind?
@hftshooter
@hftshooter 11 сағат бұрын
Technically, the greater mass should ensure it's not deflected so much. I have plans to test wind deflection of different pellets, but I need the right windy day to do it. 🙂👍

Would it be better to not compensated for wind to learn the gun.
@hftshooter
@hftshooter 9 ай бұрын
I think so. In my first year or more shooting HFT I totally ignored the wind on every shot. Only one starting to get to grips with it.

What's the idea of the gloves?

It can be more comfortable for the supporting hand when resting against a peg or tree and gives an extra bit of grip and support.
