In this vlog I continue down the River Trent, from Holme lock to Hazleford lock, giving the engine some rarely-used revs yet still being slower than another boat that was doing the same trip.
Start point: goo.gl/maps/v9...
End point: goo.gl/maps/5a...
For anyone puzzled by the "Tripods" reference, it's not War of the Worlds; see en.wikipedia.o...

I'm following a few of these cut vlogs. Most of the other vloggers talks about things to come and later on shows just a glimps of whats nice to see. You do it the other way around, talking while showing, which I find very nice. :))

Seriously this channel was my first vlog experience of narrowboats and I thought everyone else was doing it more or less the same way. Then I watched a few other channels and was surprised as quite frankly most were super boring. Cruising The Cut is by far the most polished of them all, while being 100% authentic at the same time (meaning no sponsors or incessant babbling).

Thanks David, for another trip down memory lane (river). As a 14 year old, I used to camp in the back of the lock keepers garden and in way of saying thanks, we used to help working the locks. This was at Gunthorpe lock, way back in 1957. If memory serves me correct, the gates were operated by a large wheel with a handle. Great memories as well down at Hazelford lock. There's a great pub, The Hazelford Ferry, with lovely food. Thanks again, Barrie.

12:54 As a private pilot I recall the joys of my flying instructor simulating an engine failure during take off - quite logical really as that phase of flight places the most stress at maximum power on the engine. I still find it quite disconcerting when I hear it happen today, as you are never quite sure the first time it happens if it’s flying training or the “real thing”. When it happens the second time it’s quite a relief. Loving the multiple sci-fi references, just watch that speed or you may disappear into a singularity and who knows where (or when) you may end up 🛸🛸🛸
