I'm amazed about how much Joe Collins sounds like Taliesin Jaffe. They really made some great decisions with the cast.

He literally went to speak with a god in person, trying to find a new path for himself after revenge, and was told there was none... edit: Turns out I misremembered completely. See my comment below.

EsquilaxM I think she meant that he couldn't find comfort in her or any god because he would never open himself to them fully. He is too sure of his own mind and his own abilities to even pretend that he needs divine assistance. Basically the raven queen told him that he had to fix himself because she couldn't do it for him

@@Chris_Meade I don't think this was pointed towards the Raven Queen. He never prayed to her. When he went to the temple, he was trying to bargain with her to release Vax from the deal. I believe that line was pointed towards what happened to his family and Whitestone. Before he escaped, he endured an unspecified amount of torture at the hands of Ripley. After that, he basically had to watch while the Briarwoods took control of everything he ever knew and loved. I'm willing to bet he prayed to every god that appeared in his various academic pursuits, which clearly amounted to nothing. He made the deal with Orthax to help "write [his] own deliverence" with the creation of his guns.

@@Chris_Meade Interesting interpretation. I remember watching a couple times to try and find a more hopeful message from her but all I heard was 'No.' I'll listen again. Edit: OH man. I just rewatched it and I misremembered that conversation almost entirely!! Wow. The convo was about him trying to stop the spread of guns and if not then doing what he could to heal himself or redeem himself for unleashing them. And was told he had to choose his own path but making amends was possible.

Just reminds me how baffled I was to think that throughout the rest of the campaign there was the chance that Vex was pregnant and it seems like no one brought it up...

Rashel Izro Yeah that line threw off a lot of people from what I've read (Marathoned through C1 listening at work in January so I wasn't there live). In case you didn't know, or for those reading later on that aren't sure what it meant, when Vex talks to Saundor she ends the conversation saying, "my heart belongs to someone else." That someone else was Percy, and she was upset she never told him it directly until the ritual.

To add more fuel to the proverbial fire, Taliesin said during the post-campaign Q&A that Vex saying that was the only thing that brought Percy back. He was fully ready to let him stay dead until she said it.

And her sealing the deal with a Natural 20 helped prove her sincerity - even if Taliesin was ambivalent until then, those were the words that truly got through to Percy, letting him know there was something waiting for him other than the revenge that had been taken.

Arrrgh not just the singing but the ACTING in this one! He sounds so tired in that last line. It really brings to mind that "my life is not my own" speech Percy gives later.

Hurricane was the first Hamilton song that wrecked me. When Percy died and the session ended before they could take him home to Whitestone for the ritual, I was already up way too late at night. I was lucky enough to come into this fandom much later and not have to wait a week for the resolution, but it still hurt. The cast are so invested in their characters that every death feels real. They don't act like it's something easy to fix, they act like they're really within inches of losing their friend forever, every time. I couldn't go to sleep with that as the last thing I saw on their faces- not when I knew there was a conclusion waiting in the next episode on the playlist. I kept watching until Taliesin entered the room, and I went to bed reassured. You have done an excellent job of digging up all that pain and packing it into two and a half minutes. Bravo.

LittleSallyDigby I just finished the episode where Percy died last night. I did the same thing- I kept saying to myself “I’ll just wait till this fight is over.” Ha. Haha. So at 4 in the morning, knowing I had to get up for work in a few hours I forced myself to stop watching a half hour into episode 69. Needless to say, I’m exhausted but I can’t stop watching it and these

I was unfortunately caught up before this point, so I did have to wait a week. Percy's my favorite member of VM, so I was stir crazy all week long 🤣

This is my favorite song in the whole thing. I can't get over how perfectly it fits Percy. the bridge hit me so hard, and the ending just sealed it given his understanding of legacy. I mean just wow.

I feel that this song perfectly encompasses the character of Percy from his story to his character evolution. Excellently done. This is by far my favorite song in this list.

The ONLY lyric I would change in this song is 2:17 when he says "protect my legacy." I would have changed it to destroy. That being said, I loved this song, this musical, and this voice and singer for Percival. FANTASTIC.
