24 Back Exercises - Back Exercise Variations
Whether you want to improve your pull ups or your posture or simply prevent and alleviate neck, shoulder and back pain, these back exercises will help you get the big muscles of your back activated and working properly. If you have a desk job, a long commute to work or simply walk and text, you're spending way too much time in flexion, making it even more important that you strengthen your back!
Use these exercises, using a variety of tools, to strengthen your back!

Thank you Cori. A lot of these exercises I can do when I'm on duty. This also makes my workouts at the gym as I can hit with weights once per week and than these once. Hey, it leaves more time for the cardio!

Hey Cori, awesome video! I'm currently working on strengthening my back (I sit at a desk all day) but my traps take over quite a lot and get really tight. Any tips/moves that can isolate muscles and help me to keep my shoulders depressed?

Hi Hazel. I'd recommend stretching and rolling your chest. Scapular Band Flys, pull downs, mini pull ups, scapular push ups would all be a good place to start.

my personal openion is to do those exercises only which are done by both hands not one by one ,because that can cause muscle imbalance and later will cause stiffness.all the best..👍👍

That's just so incorrect haha. You want to do unilateral moves to correct imbalances as if you do bilateral moves, your stronger side can and WILL compensate.

My right side is the dominant side. I have now been doing more unilateral exercises to even that out. Even in everyday tasks throughout the day, I try to use my non dominant side more to try and balance everything out.

Hi, was just wondering if these exercises should be done at the same speed you are doing or would it benefit our muscles more if we did them much slower? Does it really make much difference in the long term?

Hi Rachael...I do an Eccentric Pull Up in this which does mean a slow lower down. Changing up tempo can be helpful, but should be done with a purpose. So whether you do it at a controlled pace, explosive pace or even a slow tempo all depends on your goals for the move. :-)

no problem. I just want to say thank you for the videos. As a personal trainer myself, id say i knew 99% of the exercises but you always seem to surprise me with a couple different ones i hadnt previously used. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Glad to always surprise with a new one! And you know, I started these originally just to have a place I could go remind myself of moves. Because so often we do the same ones over, and the basics are always good, but it can be fun to have moves that target different areas or the same areas in different ways to help us mix things up, keep them fun and even reach specific goals more quickly!
