Isolation can drive us to do things we haven't before, which, in Hank's case, means attempting a 24 hour ride on Zwift, possibly one of the most mentally challenging GCN presenter challenges yet! From the relative comfort of his own home, Hank bring us all of the ups and downs a 24 hour indoor bike ride brings with it, did he make it, and did he find it harder than the 24 hour outdoor epic he rode last year with Mark Beaumont?

@@cycling2732 dont do it. At 12yo just ride for fun and 40km at that is already a lot. You should Ask your doctor next time you see him. If you want to be in perfect control of the bike later, you can start doing exercices like making you a little circuit putting stuff on the ground and going around them/picking them up

@Deepboy666 I guess chances of catching the virus are much much higher in Italy than somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the UK. Also, I live 40km away from Germany's first epicenter and yet there are 0 cases in my village and less than 50 cases in the next bigger city and since the virus is not airborne I guess you really have to be in contact with a person having it in order to contract it. I'm glad I stopped working on time (went on holidays on March 1) otherwise I would have 100% gotten it.

Between this and the other GCN challenges you step up to - you have my respect.

Sam Leitch that’s bc the trainers have constant resistance while riding outside on your bike doesn’t. Unless you’re climbing uphill for 24 hours you’re not going to replicate the resistance.

Hours outside, free with the wind vs inside on the torture rack. I can't stand it. I've actually cancelled my Zwift because it was so depressing. Now I just use simple (non-game) training apps to get my workout in. If it's cold and I want to ride, then I'm bundling up and riding, even in the snow. This is so crazy. I hope he doesn't keep doing this stuff too often, because he'll crack eventually.

I've participated in more than half a dozen 24-hour mountain bike relay races (24 Hours of Adrenaline, etc.), but at least we had riding shifts spread out over 5 riders, so it was enough time to eat a proper meal and take a short catnap until you were on deck to race your next lap. Still pretty tough though. This was way more brutal! Kudos on completing it with the distance and NO SLEEP!!!

Check out Michael Knudsen’s event next week trying to break the world record on 24h indoor riding by reaching 1000km+ with an average of over 41,7 km/h. It is the 11-12 of april on zwift 💪. Nice riding Hank 👍👍🤯

600+ Km in 24 hours. EPIC. Well done, Sir. So, now what? The Paris-Brest-Paris? 1200 Km. Record is 42 hours 26 minutes. Next one is 2023. Got 3 years to train.

In order to get in one must prove that one can ride 300k and 600k I think and within a set period of time from the event. I think Hank was to early for this to matter in registering :-(

Bravo. I think the longest Zwift ride I've done was a couple of hours. Maybe some day when I'm exceptionally bored I'll try for more than a few hours. Glad to see you had a group pacing you on your ride - that was nice! Congratulations again!
