I went to Memphis from the U.K. Last September. the cup I got from Gus's takes pride of place in the cupboard, I use it all the time 😄

Born and raised in Memphis (30 years) and only true Memphians know the best bbq in Memphis is Central BBQ. But you have to go to the original location and get the ribs and hot wings. My favorite there is the BBQ nachos also. Second best bbq is The Commissary. Glad you enjoyed Memphis!

Great breakfast place-Arcade restaurant. Sweet potato pancakes to die for!! Can’t believe you didn’t even mention the National Civil Rights Museum. It is outstanding and not to be missed. Stax Records is great and a must see. Also the Ornamental Metal Museum.

@@zachoryjohnson4984 50years old, never heard of that tourist trap. Looked at their menu, there is better bbq in Memphis for a lot less. Central, One and Only, and my favorite, Leonard's, because Elvis ate at the original location and let a wide eyed 4 year old sit with him and his Mafia and eat ribs. My brush with The King.

@@WhiskyCardinalWes I would never call BBQ Shop a tourist trap- it's delicious. Idk any locals who hasn't heard of it. I love Leonards too but there's not much in the area for a tourist to see so it's definitely a trip to take JUST for food. BBQ Shop is at least near other things. But it's funny to call Central or One and Only better options when BBQ Shop is still family-owned and only has one location and Central is owned by Kemmons Wilson and One and Only is a chain lol

i am obviously late to this upload, but i’m so happy to see my hometown from y’all! where gus’s started, mason TN, actually isn’t toooo far out of town! i guess it’s about an hour maybe +15 from downtown. y’all did memphis justice here, and even taught me some! i’m so excited to see what y’all will continue to do

Way late on this one but very much enjoying this and this makes me want to visit again!!! I loved visiting the Civil Rights Museum, Central BBQ and breakfast at Miss Polly's on Beale St. So excited by your video and it makes me want to visit again just to see Muddy's, Tom Lee Park, et al. We loved Biscuit Love, Jeni's Ice Cream and CREMA coffee in Nashvile. So it was great to hear you were able to go out an enjoy it.

Lived in Memphis area for 15 years so you went to the right place for chicken. Not sure where you are going in Mississippi, but you can’t go wrong with trying their famous chicken in Lorman, MS at the Old Country Store.

This is definitely a rock and roll town! 🎸!! The food looks amazing, I’d definitely gain a lot of weight if I ate all of this! I wouldn’t be able to stop eating! But it looks amazing and so chilled out here! I love this, and this is a pretty cool thing to do after being on the road for so long!

Gus’s is amazing- if you go around lunchtime, the line is out the door. They use Yelp’s waitlist & I would highly recommend getting your name on it. Interstate BBQ is my favorite ‘cue! The Pyramid used to be an arena.

The (Charlie Vergos') Rendezvous is the best BBQ in Memphis. The Pyramid used to have a concert venue and had exhibition hall.

Tom Lee Park is where they have Memphis in May the first weekend every year they have a huge music festival there.

Gus Fried Chicken was started in Mason TN and it's still there. The other Gus are franchises . They did NOT move to Memphis. As for The Bar B Q Shop, you're not missing anything. For good BBQ, go to Rendezvous, Corky's, Cozy Corner or Payne's.

Oh my gosh!!! I can’t wait to see your video in Jackson! That’s my home town. Mississippi knows how to EAT so there are lots amazing food joints (including some hidden gyms like gas stations!) I live in Texas now, but literally count down to going back to MS to eat and see family every few months 😝 When y’all come to Texas, you should check out Denton. It’s so cute and up and coming. Word on the street is that Denton is the next Austin 😍

My grandmother used to take me to the Peabody when I was 5 and I am 57 now and my grand mother took my uncle when he was small and he is 75. So it is safe to say the duck walk has been happening for decades.

@Uncle Chuckles - I was lucky enough to eat at the Neeley’s Restaurant in Memphis once. I fell in love with their barbecue spaghetti - it was amazing. Both of my sisters and my niece didn’t care for it, but that just made more for me to take home. Their recipe is online - one of these days I’ll make it. 😋

Highly recommend rendezvous for BBQ!!! Check it out next time. Great pick on Gusses!! Should have went to Bass Pro and went up the tallest free standing elevator and overlooked Memphis Arkansas and the great Mississippi! One day isn’t enough to check Memphis out!

I’m British from London but St. Louis is where my heart is . I have good friends there I met about 20urs ago who live near st Charles and some off woodson road of you now it . I used to stay near airport and take the metro downtown and loved lacledes landing etc . I bleed blue

@@Watfordfc2030 I've heard of the bull at In-Cahoots, but never been there. I know the River Otters! Sadly, they folded in 2006. The River City Rascals minor league baseball team I just heard is folding this year, as well. But StL has a soccer (football?) team now, and Stanley 😁 Have you seen the projected additions for the zoo? Man, it's going to be cool. I can't wait for the aquarium, either!

My favorite barbecue place of all the barbecue places I've ever eaten is a tiny little place, built in what I'm pretty sure is an old A&W restaurant, called Barnes' Barbecue. It's in the San Diego suburb of Lemon Grove, and it's the best barbecue in the world, as far as I'm concerned. EVERYTHING there is absolutely delicious, from the burnt ends to the sweet potato pie and everything in between! The ribs are all fabulous! Usually I like pork ribs better, but at Barnes' I think the beef ribs are every bit as good, if not a teensy bit better. I don't know, it's really hard for me to judge great beef against great pork. If you ever go to San Diego, a trip to Barnes' Barbecue is DEFINITELY worth the trip out to Lemon Grove, and it's right across the street from the San Diego Trolley's Orange Line, about four or five blocks north on the main street in front of the Lemon Grove station. Just cross the street and follow the tracks north. There's also a really excellent little hole in the wall Mexican taqueria that you'll pass on your way to Barnes', and on your way back to the trolley. It's in a strip mall perched on a hillside, on the north end of the strip mall. If you go there, the rolled tacos are NOT to be missed. And their pico de gallo salsa is AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Lived in Memphis for 20 years and our favorite BBQ place is Central BBQ. Also you need to try the Soul Burger at Earnestine and Hazel's. You get a diner style burger, chips and soda for $6. All the greasy goodness!

For a pulled pork sandwich we love Top's BBQ and get the coleslaw on top. We love Neeley's BBQ for ribs and they make the best BBQ spaghetti it has little bits of bbq in it, really good and their sides are awesome! Now I have to say I make ribs with my own homemade sauce and I get rave reviews for it. No I don't have a restraunt, but always happy to host. We live 2 hours north and a little east of Memphis in Martin TN. ~ Jill Gross

Although I had already been on the Sun Studio tour my friend hadn’t so we drove from Nashville to Memphis and while the ladies were at Graceland we drove to the Sun Studio. When we got there we were disappointed to learn that the Studio was closed to the public because somebody was recording there. We decided to have something to eat in the cafe and almost immediately a door at the back opened and Carl Perkins came in with Paul Simon. Unfortunately Carl died not long after that and although I looked for it I never saw the album that they were recording. Presumably they never finished it. I was told that it was to be Carl duetting with different guests.

The best ribs in Memphis are from Central BBQ (specifically the original restaurant on Central Ave. ) The other location is ok but just not the same for some reson..

next time you're in town, get a pulled pork sandwich with slaw on. classic Memphis style! my favorite is paynes bbq. also try the beauty shop restaurant for dinner or brunch- its in the beauty parlor where Priscilla presley used to get her beehive done! also explore broad avenue and the crosstown concourse! there's so much beyond beale (though next time, go to silkys on beale- they have actual goats in their outdoor courtyard!) i love yalls videos and finally got around to watching the one for my hometown and you really did it justice :)
