My Overnight Stay in This Tiny Hotel Room is something I’ve NEVER experienced… It’s very very small, but its in the middle of manhattan New York City. Its also super affordable and you can sometimes get rooms in this hotel for the price of a porterhouse steak. That being said this type of living arrangement wont be for everyone. Let me know what you think of this weird little hotel room that’s super affordable.

At 73 I'm a leading edge boomer and here's why I just love the younger generations, especially the young men and fathers. This guy, like so many young men, participate fully in being a parent, so easily and naturally. Boomer men rarely ever did. When I was in my twenties, you never saw a man shopping in a grocery store; it was female territory and they wouldn't dare be caught there except to rush in and out on a mission to pick up something quick for the wife who failed at her job to shop efficiently (that was their attitude). It's up to young people to save our democracy and our country so, please, get involved to fix the mess that has evolved.

My dad was a boomer, actually might have been older. He was quiet and very masculine...but he had no trouble grocery shopping. 🤣 What? In fact he went every Friday because he made himself a ribeye every Friday with the trimmings and grilled most Sundays. Mom had a strict I don't cook friday-sunday rule. Dad didn't do much house work, but me and my siblings were expected to do that. He hugged us every morning and told us he lived us as we left the house. I never thought it was odd to see men in the grocery store. I'm 44.

I’m the same age as you. I had a really fun dad. We went camping and fishing as a family. I am certain that my dad never changed a diaper in his life! My sons proudly carry around diaper bags and help with the children. I’m very proud of the new generation of families!
@goldiefatale
@goldiefatale 2 жыл бұрын
@@vamortimer my dad did do diapers but I won't lie and say he did lots of them. He did however fix my hair every am when I was a kid. My dad owned a video store and some car lots so he wasn't really home a lot. I also will agree my dad was probably more engaged than many dads even today. He loved being a dad. Once a friend if mine wrecked her car and my dad stopped her dad who was overly mad and talked to him, let him know it's just a car and how great was it everyone was safe. Well I'm off point now, but he was a good dad.

Poor Violet! I felt for her. As a child I always got carsick only my parent wasn’t quite so understanding & sympathetic. I’m glad you are a good dad. Tiny hotel! Unique get-a-way idea without going to far from home and to break up the monotony of staying home.

This building has quite the history before it was the Freehand. I used to live there as a college student in the 90's when the School Of Visual Arts used it as a dorm. Back then it was the George Washington Hotel. It was owned by another company and leased by SVA. Before it was a dorm, it was city housing for recovering addicts. Because of a loophole in a housing law at the time they couldn't kick out some of the residents so it ended up being 85% students and the other 15% was comprised of mentally ill people who had nowhere else to go. It was colorful to say the least. We had nicknames for some of the more creepy people in the building. It was apparently even more sketchy in the 80's. Someone I used to work with told me that he used to bring Japanese businessmen there for hookers and drugs when he was a cab driver. It's nice to see that they've cleaned it up but it seems like the rooms are just as small as I remember them.

A little small for 3 people, but it actually wasn't that bad. Nice bathroom. You might have been able to remove that door shelf on the fridge; they frequently just slide right off, which gives you more room. I have a small upstairs fridge that does that. Next time, you'll know.

Having just come back today from staying at the LaQuinta next to Central Park, I can confidently confirm this is not the smallest hotel in NYC. It seems like you're able to comfortably walk the hallways without having to turn your shoulders, and the fact that you have a desk and mini fridge makes you pretty much royalty compared to my situation. The only thing that fit in the room was a queen bed and nightstand....but I did get breakfast in the morning. Always a tradeoff!

I’ve stayed in hotels in NY smaller than that years ago. I’d take my daughter’s individually to NYC. We literally just slept in the hotel room. We got to see an extra show or do something else special with the money we saved, but we were on the go all day every day. They were perfectly happy with the accommodations and saw it as part of the NY experience.

I watch your videos daily, as I absolutely love NYC. These family videos are awesome. It reminds me of our family trips. We also had a culturally mixed family (my beautiful wife was Peruvian), but she passed away three years ago. Now, I have to create memories with our sons, now 18 and 13, without her. While I still take my sons to a lot of different places (NYC has long been our favorite vacation spot), I do miss the full family experience. Keep being a great Dad and husband. In some ways, I’m living vicariously through these videos.

I'm so glad you posted a video with Violet today. I've been in a really grouchy mood all week and watching her as she's so excited and happy is contagious! Poor baby getting car sick though. I'm glad you have the money to just buy her a new one cuz I would have had to just go to the laundry mat and given my daughter my coat to wear until hers was clean. That's a cute motel room tho. First cozy place I've seen in NY though it's probably painfully expensive. I had to laugh at you unplugging that alarm clock radio. I remember the broken one lmao. I hope Violet enjoyed it. Thanks for the share. Now I can have a lighter day 🙂

This is a nice reminder; and of course looks like a nice place to stay.
