24 Hours Leviathan Challenge. Paint Tyranids Fast!

I am building and painting the Leviathan box from GamesWorkshop in a 24 hour speed challenge. I share a recipe for speed painting tyranids. I have to get this box done quickly for my first warhammer 40k 10th edition game.

I use mostly citadel contrast paints to paint the miniatures. The base coats are vallejo black primer and vallejo buff.

Love watching these challenges. Great idea to break it into 3 chunks. My Leviathan Tyranids are only built, no paint yet!

I massively underestimated the work that needed to be done to build all the models. I guess the marines will take even more time 😅

Loved that you also did a time-lapse of the building process and not just the painting. Always enjoy seeing how other people put big groups of stuff like this together.

Exactly, I think that when doing these challenges, that's an important part because it takes up so much time and should not be underestimated.

I think a really cool hive fleet name would be hive fleet mammoth as its a synonym of leviathan>

Its one thing to start a crafting channel, but I always find it more impressive to launch a channel not in your native language. Its twice as impressive!! Wonderful job on the box and the minis! I sold the space marines, cards, and the book, 10 gaunts, and the winged primed. Should still be able to field 2 different kill teams with the tyranids, & 3 large monsters for DnD and the cost was less than 60 bucks. Cheers from Copenhagen!

Thank you so much! Most of the bad feedback I get is because I am not a native speaker, so I really appreciate your comment! I also thought about using the little dolphine like aliens for DnD, great as critters!

Great job! I did a similar base colour but used the rattle can which looks to have been a lot easier than AB. Bad luck re weather.

Right 😂 Programming the clock was a nightmare, so I didn't care about the year setting... or maybe I took the box back in time and did the challenge 23 years ago 😬

Great job. Do yourself a favour and switch to alcohol based paints for the airbrush like tamiya. 10ml jar + 2ml thinner and they spray perfectly and dry almost instantly have have a much highter pigment content. You could have done all your aurbrushing in 1 - 1.5 hours.

I like these a lot. What did you do differently for the carapace on the test models, apart from the blue highlights? I really prefer the look of the black on those, especially I think the neurogaunt looks the best of all the models you painted, but it doesnt look like the same contrast paints were used.

Not much actually ... I had more time for final touch up work: I gave the magenta on the limbs another glaze layer of Druchii violet to intensify the effect. The carapace got blue-grey-ish highlights and the face (and some parts of the arms) got highlights with Buff and White+Buff. This give the focal point of the face more definition.

Would you be willing to share a link to that clock? I see it in a lot of these 24 hour challenge videos and I think it would be fun to have a go at it for my own experience.

I actually burrowed it from MiniQuest64 and I wouldn't recommend the one I used. I am sure there are better ones ... Clocks that are easier to setup and 'program'
