I’ve been looking at firefighting jobs for all the branches I’m in dep for the Marines but the recruiters told me they don’t have any. So now I’m looking at other branches. This video has helped a lot thank you.

There isn’t really a specific portion from what I know, I think it’s well rounded and just have a basic knowledge of all portions!

Nope! You can be fresh out of high school to be an Air Force fire fighter. In fact, the Air Force can pay for you to get EMT certified!

Yo how is it like being married and doing fire protection? Like do you gotta stay at the station or you can go home like I got questions lol cause I wanna do fire protection

Because I ain’t got kids, it’s a really easy schedule for being married. Here at my base we do 48/48. So I stay 2 nights at the station and then I have 2 nights at home. It’s a good schedule for me tbh, not to long away from home!

Do you respond solely on the base or do you also respond to nearby towns/communities ? Do you also do medical calls ?

Mostly on base! But if there’s a mutual aid call, we’ll help respond to off base calls too. And yes we do also do medical calls!

Do you get your paramedic during tech school? If not how can one get paramedic while an Air Force firefighter?

We only get EMR during tech school. But after you’ve completed the “5 level training” and whatever requirements needed for the specific base you’re at, then you may proceed to getting EMT or a Paramedic license. Usually the Air Force will pay for it!

Thanks for the questions! I haven’t heard of anyone getting to go to paramedic school during a contract. I believe its possible but a very slim chance considering you’d have to be sent to a different school to receive it. But a lot of people get sent through EMT and have that while still being a fire fighter.

No paramedic in contract. EMT after you get to your base and you complete upgrade training. EMR at tech school (Goodfellow AFB)
