@@angrut He's the guy who fights for lower ranked players to get more money. His handshakes after the match are more honest than most of the players. You can hear him defending other guys like he defended Alcaraz the other day in his press conference. He was always emotional, yelling, breaking the racket... And media portrayed him as a bad guy of tennis. Also because they already planned to have Federer and Nadal as the main guys, and Novak stepped in between. Also, media always tried to use things against him to create more drama and build tension during tournaments. Like when he was talking about equal pay for men and women in tennis, and said guys should fight for more. He had balls to say that and was slaughtered by the media. Let's be honest, who produces more entertainment a d brings more people to the sport? But when, for example, Roger is salty after US open 2011 or few years before that calling Novak a quitter because of his health issues, media close their eyes to that. Why? Because Roger was the face of tennis, he is not supposed to say anything wrong, he's perfect. It's obvious what kind of people hate Novak, those who can't think for themselves and just follow whatever mainstream narrative is. He's not right about everything but he speaks his mind and shows his emotions, as we all should do. But in today's world, there's this tendency to make people more generic, politically correct and robotic. That's why Novak is weird to many, he's not one of the brainwashed.

You can make out, you're a casual viewer of tennis and not an actual player, no offense, just based on your statement. I'm a die-hard Djokovic fan, but neither is he the most versatile or an offensive juggernaut, or the most complete. And all the shots you've mentioned, every ATP player plays them. Federer and Alcaraz are pure offensive players. And arguably more complete. Certainly, Alcaraz is more complete. Djokovic is primarily an opportunistic player, i.e., with the depth and accuracy of his groundstrokes, he's able to draw a slightly short ball or a mishit shot, and then he goes for the kill. Alcaraz and Federer's strategy is to finish the point from shot 1 itself. Djokovic is a world-class volleyer, but he's most comfortable at the baseline. He does look a little off balance and ungainly in the mid-court and even at the net. Whereas Federer and Alcaraz look absolutely at home in those regions. Smash is another shot, which is definitely not the Serbs' strong suit. What makes Djokovic the absolute GOAT is primarily his mentality and will to win. In addition to having all the skills necessary, tangible and intangible, which goes into making the greatest baseline player ever.

But your'e definitely mistaken about my cursory understanding of tennis...I've been watching the game closely since the early 80's, I'm a USTA certified coach and a 5.0/UTR 11 player. The stats also don't align with your opinion. A complete player is one who is equally comfortable in the 3 zones of the court: net, mid-court, and baseline. Djokovic would rather stay at the baseline. He is the most complete baseline player, yes, no one close. But players like Alcaraz and Federer are equally comfortable in all three zones of the court. Doesn't mean they are better than Djokovic.

I'm sorry - I'm a Novak fan here - but to see the 2. top comment here start with "Nobody has a drop shot like Djokovic." is just false... Novak's game is near impenetrable, and his dropshots are top tier... But he is far from having the best drop shot in the game (or a particularly unique one).

Novak just won his 3rd major of the year and his 24th overall by equalling an all-time intergender grand slam titles record in singles, so maybe we should focus on that?! Thank you!
