Nice detective work! I am also on the lookout for more of these, so happy that within the year, or early next year we should be able to get them. Amazon listings change so much, that it can be frustrating. A lot of times I will visit Blick or Cult Pens for new art stuff. I have noticed that the prices on Blick are often the same as on Amazon, in the US at least. I trust Blick and Cult Pens more than Amazon for sure. 😂

Very true! I also keep an eye on Cult Pens. I haven't seen the new Staedtler colours listed there yet but I'm sure they will when the pens get released. :)

I've never had a problem with Amazon as long as I'm ordering directly from Amazon and not a third party vendor.. never, and I've been using Amazon for over a decade. Blick takes forever to get imported items... and Cult pens is often very expensive not to mention their international shipping is stupid high. I usually pay half to a quarter of the shipping cost for a box full of stuff from Jacksons, also in the UK, and get my stuff sooner, so I know it just doesn't cost that much to send a half dozen pencils to the US. I just bought the Derwent Chromaflow 150 from US Amazon for $150, it's $120 more at Cult Pens.. almost twice the price.. and if I had to bet it will be a year before Blick gets them. Cult is great for open stock you just can't get anywhere else though. Also individual items are usually way more expensive on Amazon but sets, especially large sets, are often the lowest cost of any US store.

@@waymire01 All very true. Cult Pens is the only option I've seen for ordering these Staedtler pigment brush pens through open stock but their prices for the sets are MUCH higher than other places. Not sure why that would be but - there it is. :)

This was great research on your part Connie! Have you ever done your family tree? You've got to be a bit of a detective to discover things and this video (for some reason!) brought that to mind. Update- purchased the 36 set and am OBSESSED. They are just what I have been wanting- markers with the saturation of alcohol markers that don’t bleed! Came back to rewatch to see the new colors now that I swatched mine.

The Staedtler colour/numbers tend to be pretty standard between products (quite a few charts available for pencils/fineliners etc).

Very true - I actually did a video back in the fall looking at the Staedtler numbering system. :) I've compared the numbers between the Pigment Arts pens and the fineliners and there are some colour numbers in the Pigment pens that aren't in any other line in the Staedtler range. I'm definitely curious to see the new colours! :)

I can't speak for Amazon Germany.. but I had a similar experience buying the Derwent Chromaflow 150 on Amazon US. So first I accidentally bought the 100, I wasn't paying attention and didn't even know they had released a 100 set. Didn't realize it until I went to swatch them after waiting weeks for them to arrive. Sent them back. Waited weeks for my refund. By that time the 150 were on Amazon for preorder, shipping from the UK. The price was high though so I watched it for a while. Went into actual order, same price.. still waited. Price drops from $171.00 to $150.00 so I bought. Before my order could ship they went out of stock, because apparently everyone else was doing the same thing. My order changed to "you will get an email when this is scheduled to ship". Went back in stock at the original higher price.. no change in my order. Went back out of stock. Sat for another three weeks.. I had pretty much given up hope but then all of a sudden my order started being processed and I got a delivery date ..which isn't until the beginning of August but that is way earlier than the current estimate on the listing for new purchases, so apparently I've been in line the whole time. So.. I have no idea what Amazon is doing and I don't think they do either considering there doesn't appear to be any human making decisions anymore in the company. I would start with your actual order status in your account... as long as it's still on order and you are willing to wait.. wait. If you do find them elsewhere you can always cancel your order with Amazon. I will say they ALWAYS start the price high, then drop it.. then it can go back up or even higher.. or go on "sale"... it all depends on sales volume. More people buying, the higher the price. You can waste or save a lot of money on Amazon if you play the game right. Don't be the first person to buy, but also don't wait for word to get out, especially if social media is involved. I've seen a set of pencils double in price overnight if a popular influencer shills them.

All very true. Surprisingly, my order of the 60 set says it's been shipped from Amazon Germany and I should have it this coming week - we'll see. :) When I placed my pre-order, it was the lowest price that I've seen (I think it was about $79 USD plus $20-ish for overseas shipping for the 60 pens). My pre-order of the 24 set of new colours still hasn't shipped, though, even though the Amazon listing says it's in stock. Ah well - like you say, I'm just going to leave the pre-order of 24 to sit there and wait patiently to see what happens. :)

I watched a comparison between the Staedtler and the Faber last night.. and while the Staedtler bled through paper much more which is disappointing.. they do amazing tip to tip blending. You may want to give that a try. The Fabers wouldn't do it at all. How do the two white pens compare in opacity? I'm always looking for white pen options. I've used the Faber and it's interesting for highlights without distinct white lines.

I've tried the tip to tip blending technique in the past and found that I didn't like it - I felt like I didn't have as much control over where the blending happened on the page as I could never be sure exactly when the "added" colour would run out and the actual pen colour would start. But it could be that I just need more practice with it. :) Staedtler doesn't have a white brush-tipped pigment pen (that I know of) but they do have a bullet nib white pigment pen. I don't find it very opaque at all but, like you, I use the white pigment pens for highlights where I don't want a stark white highlight - just a lightening of the area. The white Pitt Pen is the most opaque of the white pigment based pens that I've tried but I recently bought some small sets of the Artline Decorite pigments pens and the white included in those sets is definitely opaque - I'd say very similar to the opacity of the white Pitt Pen but with a larger brush nib. Definitely a pen I'm going to use going forward!

@@colouringchemist TY! I just assumed Staedtler had one. Saved me some money. Always hoping for an opaque white ink pen.. that isn't a roller ball. It seems like such an obvious need.. a nice little micron would be amazing... or even better a bleedproof white ink pen. Such a "DUH" for brands to neglect.
