The Cod Bros I’m two years late but it’s not the wastegate. The waste gate opens at a certain psi and doesn’t allow boost to build above that pressure. A blow off valve would relieve pressure when letting off the throttle. What you’re hearing here is just the compressor despoiling.

@@01CumminsWelder that’s not the waste gate. Waste gate doesn’t let it get over a certain psi. Say you want 40 pounds. Once it gets over 40 pounds it opens up to let the excess out

Blow off valves can make a sound like that if you wanted one

What tuner? I have an 02 with a smarty on level 3 and 100hp injectors and I don’t smoke that much. But mine is auto

Does it wire tap the pump. Mines just a superchip on whatever max power is. These trucks are getting about 60hp out of most programmers that dont tap the pump. Smarty timing may be quite abit better than my superchip. Mines also an auto

No it doesn’t tap the pump at all. You can’t tune on the fly with a smarty. It does ad some timing and fools the turbo a bit.

Nice. Smarty has better timing, might be why your not smoking or getting hot. How much boost are you making?

Honestly the difference between a 4" and 5" is going to be hardly noticable. But the drone wasnt too bad. Might be worse with a single cab. I know my 04 single cab has some bad drone. My 01 wasnt terrible though.

Garrett Letson you won’t see performance gains just sound changes. If you don’t want a drone you need to go to a stainless exhaust pipe, they use thicker wall tubing for stainless systems which doesn’t reverberate under the truck like aluminized does. Keeps the cab quiet that way. 4 and 5” both won’t drone. Also make sure your exhaust isolator are all soft types and not ridged from age. You want the exhaust to essentially float free to keep vibration into the frame down. You can also remove some hangars, the less on the system, the less vibration. Really you only need 4 total.

All 2nd gen with manual transmission will make this sound with a stock turbo because of the manifold setup a 6 speed manual 3rd gen won't make the sound because manifold is different..2nd gen automatic won't make the sound either because its auto manual only.

Lmao, so I was pulling a trailer and I took off from a stop one night and broke my ujoint and it caused one of my ubolts to snap also. So I went to the local truck and trailer shop and had them custom bend me some thicker ubolts. I eventually cut them down to size shortly after this video

I put a U bolt flip on mine Nice truck keep it up

It has 90 over injectors, intake and a slightly larger turbo
