These 2nd gen 12 valves don't idle at 400. They idle at like 800 or so and thats pretty normal.

Good evening Malachi. I would agree 450-500 HP. My camper that i currently own weighs about 5,000lbs and is a little to much weight for my F150 that only has a 4.6L in it. So 450-500HP is fine with me for when I win it when it is up for grabs. HAHA!! Handsome little guy you have there. I have a 9 year old son and a 7 year old son.

That's a pretty sweet truck but high idle and low idle discussion some people call it personal opinion. I run a C15 Cat and if I go outside my truck for more than 5 minutes I will put it on high idle because at a idle your oil pressure gets really low and after idling for 15-20 minutes the top end of your engine is no longer oiled. Smaller diesel engines I am assuming are going to be pretty close to the same

I had a 2nd gen that did like Rosine. Turned out to be a pin hole in the fuel line not big enough to leak but would drain the fuel back to the tank. You can park nose down and get better results for a day or 2 but I just replaced with a Fass and new lines.

I think she already has an airdog or fass system that is a few years old but that truck also had a no start issue a few years back so im not sure

12v cummins should idle at 800rpms when warm. The idle speed is more to worry about on the auto trucks because with low rpm at idle it could burn up auto trans from not pumping fuild for the trans. But 800rpm is factory idle speed

Mine goes to high idle when that cold and grid heater kicks on and off when fist start driving in really cold temps at nite your head lights will dim every time the grid heater kicks on .

Also illegal, that’s why the raptor has clearance lights on it. Over a certain width needs to have clearance lights.

You should try and see if replacing the crankshaft position sensor if you have not already because I’ve seen them cause that long and hard start.

Interesting thing you said about the lower idle. I was taught(when learning to drive older semi trucks) you should bump the idle up when itll be idling for awhile as older diesels had a harder time getting the oil moved around? Not sure how true just what I was told

That’s correct. I went from a 12 valve to a 18 dually and it has an auto idle up when the truck is at idle for a while

I would recommend 375 with a G56 swap kit or a Built NV5600 and a good quality turbo that can handle higher HP I know of someone the builds a really good turbo

450-600 is good number for towing and reliability with a 12v. Ducky injectors would be a good source for that in my personal opinion. Idk what you usually use tho.

One thing I've always done if you think it could be possibly leaking something but the ground could be soaking it up so I put a pice of car board under it and I dont know if you are suppose to or not but the guy that I work for he says put accelerator while starting.

what is done to that dually? it sounds like it has a exhuast brake a little. but what turbo is on it becuase it doesnt sound like a hx35.

Its probably just him down shifting is what is sounding like an exhaust brake the hx35s scream a lil with the silencer removed but im not sure what all has been done with it

Thats idling between 650-740ish. If you look at how many marks are between the 1 and 2 k lines compared to 0-1 you can see the first line is the "halfway" mark between 0 and 1 so the line the needle is by the 750 rpm mark. If it was actually at 400 it wouldnt be running very well if at all.

Not sure if you looked into the 4th gen steering component swap or not but I’ve heard really good things to help clean up the 2nd gen steering slop. Greg A has a good video on it when he did it to his 2nd gen.

Leave the dually bone stock turn the pump up a little bit and you will run for a long time I currently drive a 12v and all that I have done to it is the pump is turned up a little but but other then that it's all stock

The new dually should be put at 400-500 horsepower. That’s good reliable numbers out of a 12 valve and for pulling. Looks like Rosine is hard to start due to a bad lift pump or a bad VP44. Good video and love seeing the thick hips do work!🤤
