It was a big day today for me. I was invited to attend the pre-opening event at the new Apple Store at TRX Exchange. It was mainly for educator and I got to meet some interesting people there. Quite a number of them were teachers and university faculty members.
The event was in the afternoon, but I had to get through a specially opened clinic this morning due to my planned travels this weekend. In the end, I had to rush through lunch, and I reached the venue by Grab with 15 minutes to spare.
There was a small crowd building at the designated entrance - on level 1 of The Exchange. We were ushered in through the entrance, up s flight of stairs to the mezzanine - which was an open space designed for talks and collaboration, complete with a gorgeous LED panel display.
We had an hour talk on the concept of Apple Educator, and was given a demo on the new M4 iPad Pro. Each of us had a unit to use, with the new Apple Pencil Pro. We had a speaker - Dr Helmi - who took us through how he devised some lesson using his iPad into a video for teaching. Clearly, the target audience here were more on the primary and secondary setting.
I was more interested on how Apple planning to penetrate the local education market. After all, Alice Smith had been using PC and iPad as learning tools for a number of years now. But I guess, those were exceptions. There were clearly plenty of room for Apple to explore as it makes its presence in our shores.
Unfortunately, my busy day did not end there. I still had to pack for my trip tomorrow ...
