Fun fact: The "apology accepted" line confused some of the people working on the film, thinking that he was being nice to Captain Needa. It wasn't until they saw the movie that they realized he choked him to death.

I think Vader has an underrated laconic sense of humor in the original trilogy.

Darth Vader is absolutely hilarious. His dark humor is vastly under appreciated in our star wars meme culture. Apology accepted after choking someone out and then getting staff members to take the body like it’s nothing. It’s hysterical

He’s one of the wisest movie villains ever.

I love how when he’s talking to the bounty hunters, when he says, “No disintegrations” he specifically turns and points at Boba because Boba’s got a reputation for that. Even among the Empire, his reputation is still legendary and second to none.

One of my favorites is in Rebels when he orders Minister Tua to meet with Tarkin: "He expects you tomorrow... to *account* for your *failure* " Because who isn't scared of accounting for your failures? Vader knows this. He also knows the failures of nearly everyone in the galaxy pale in magnitude to his own colossal failures. It amuses him to terrify smaller people with their own shadows. It's an expression of his anger that theirs will never be as dark as his.

For those who didn’t know Admiral Piett had been secretly making Ozzle the former admiral of Death Squadron (Vader’s fleet) look bad in front of Vader for about two years before his death. Ozzle was overconfident underqualified and apathetic. As we all know Apathy is death. He got his high possession due to money and a long family history of republic officers from the core. He even believed he was the true owner of Death squadron when everyone knew it was Vader’s fleet and Ozzle was just a figurehead. Piett on the other hand earned his position through hard work and loyalty. He came from a poor planet in the mid rim I think. He was so well known Vader hand picked him to captain the Devastator then later Executor after it was built and was one of the only officers Vader never killed. Among those in the Imperial Navy Piett earned the title “The man so valuable even Darth Vader couldn’t kill him.”

R.I.P David Prowse, I’ve never been a Star Wars fan but I will always enjoy David Prowse as Darth Vader and James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. May the force be with you David Prowse and remember you don’t know the power of the dark side.

Darth Vader is the greatest villain in cinematic history....HANDS DOWN. Every single scene with him in it is perfect...literally. Will anyone EVER forget the opening scene of Episode IV, when Vader enters the blown out blast door & surveys the dead rebels. I think not. That scene was burned into my head at 7 years old & it remains my favorite of all time. There should be a whole series of episodes of no one, but Vader.

Hearing his original voice next to what we all know is jarring like such a huge difference!
