There is a guy who did the same stunt. He jumped from an airplane at the altitudes and speed D.B. did with bags full of fake money. He proved it could be done.

My dog cons me on the regular. He woofs to go out in the garden, steps outside and as soon as my back is turned on him, comes straight back in and goes to where his treats are kept (guess how we trained him to go out for a pee in the first place. He wasn't a puppy when we got him - he's an ex-racing greyhound - and that usually means more effort is required to train. To be fair, he's very clean). Given that he stands as tall as my waist and that the kitchen is a galley one, so it's quite narrow, he can put himself in my way and it's a job to get past him without giving in and giving the treat. Unfortunately, he's very picky, so we have to offer him a selection of treats for him to choose from. If he knows, or even thinks, that there are sausages in the fridge (we had to find the perfect medicine dispenser after he'd had a nasty injury, and you can put liquid inside a banger) he'll refuse all other treats! For a dog who's mostly as thick as a brick, he's definitely got the hound treat-scheming gene! That's why I insist that greys are cats in a dog suit!

One thing I don't get is if his story was such BS, then how did he manage to spend years advising the FBI (& lecturing at the FBI Academy)? In the early years, he could have only been speaking from experience as a conman, or the FBI would have figured it out. Note that he was not an employee or regularly scheduled contractor of the FBI. Also, It is known/highly suspected by the FBI that he at least spent some time in the cockpit/jumpseat of an airliner. There were things you couldn't pick up from manuals, a quick 2-minute visit to the cockpit, or a visit to the airline simulator. Exactly how, remains unclear. This isn't to say he didn't exaggerate parts of his life story, but I doubt it's as false as some people now claim. As I recall, his son retired as an FBI agent a few years ago.

@@neuropilot7310 , exactly. I have little doubt some of the movie and the book were exaggerated, but of some of the basic facts hadn't checked out.. Johnny Carson would have called him out on live television when he was on the show.

I don't think I've ever fallen for a scam or con, but I get at least three scam calls a day. Instead of blocking them, I take the opportunity to screw with them and make them question their life choices. I couldn't block them even if I wanted to anyway, since they spoof their numbers, meaning their calls are always rotted through random phone numbers that either don't work or are connected to someone else just minding their own business.

He’s still out there working his scams, and continues his claims of fake psychic powers, and other non-existence skills. He’s nothing but a glorified sleight-of-hand artist. I think he even had a brief write up in The NY Times, which appeared to be some type of sponsored content (meaning he paid for a promotional article about himself.)

. Didn't exactly expose him, but with the help of James Randi stopped him from conning the audience. Uri claimed he didn't "feel strong" that night. Johnny was an amateur magician himself, so he kinda knew how Geller did it.

10:00 I think Homes actually thought she could pull this off originally. She was arrogant enough to believe if she was persistent and got the right people together, they could somehow just "solve" the problem. However, somewhere along the way she realized it wasn't possible but didn't want to admit that failure so she decided it was better to just scam people rather than saying "it can't be done" after spending all that time saying it could.

To be fair in regards to #22, the price of diamonds themselves is a massive con in and of itself, because one company (De Beers Diamond Company) has held a total monopoly over them for so long, they would most likely be far cheaper if they were unable to hold the monopoly for as long as they did. They once had roughly 85% of the world's diamond supply in their possession, effectively manipulating market prices, they now only hold roughly 20% of all diamonds on Earth.

D.B. Cooper was a mistake in the reporting of the high jacker's false name made by one of the wire services. The actual false name he used when buying the ticket was Dan Cooper.

Actually it was just D Cooper. And that was a false name most likely derived from the Canadian comic book adventuring pilot Dan Cooper. The d.b. Cooper was added by an overzealous news reporter.

I think most people believe that Elizabeth Holmes didn't go out of her way to scam people. From what I read, it sounds like she genuinely thought her idea could work if she worked out the kinks. A lot of her actions sound more like stalling for time than intentionally screwing over investors, mixed with getting a little *too* into the "fake it if you make it" attitude of Silicon Valley (I mean, her idol *was* Steve Jobs, after all).

Biggest cons.....some of, if not most of many politicians' promises. 😁 Many offers that used to appear in small ads in newspapers were cons. Now that sort of stuff is online now. If the price seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Dali's con was signing his name to hundreds of blank sheets paper, to be used for limited edition prints in the future. Meaning that the numbered duplicate "fake prints" were being forged by his own studio assistants, whenever he needed money.

The first time I heard Elizabeth Holmes speak I knew she was lying. She deepens her voice to be taken more seriously compared to actual bio engineers who are generally shy, reserved and focused on their work. She was addicted to the spotlight and it got her in the end.

In 1824 there was supposedly a con, really more an elaborate prank, that said the uneven weight on it was causing part of Manhattan, near the Battery, to sink. So there was a project to saw the southern section off, tow it out, turn it around, and reattach it, stabilizing the island. I don't know how you reattach two parts of an island, duct tspe wasn't invdnted until 1943.

I've had people try to run coms om by email, line and FB. They haven't worked yet. I have sourse that keep me on the straight and narrow. Some of those have been through CRA. didn't work.

I've been approached a few times by Scammers n Cons, luckily I'm so indecisive lol and they often leave before I fall for it. I was surprised there was no mention of cryptocurrancy on here? I was not surprised by the fact that many consumers men listed on here over-exaggerated their life stories, or that there was no way to prove the facts/ Legends of their life. After all living and faking things was their talent.

My Mom, though not a con 😁, was one of those people who "never met a stranger"! She could have a conversation with ANYONE! Later in her life, after the onvo was finished, she'd turn to me & whisper "Who was that?"! Sad, but she lived to nearly 92!! Not too shabby I'd say! Me, not so much! When I first became a nurse, in my mid-30's, I was still so shy that I had to FORCE myself to talk to patients! 30+ years later I can now talk to almost anyone. I live alone, so I tend to take advantage to talk with drivers, delivery people, & people on the phone! And, I guess, here too! Sorry! 🙄😁

These guys are getting well deserved more than life sentences! The thing i can't understand is that you abuse any animal, you get at worst 10 years in prison! Rape underage children? You are out in under 3 years! I think that the justice system sux! Who is responsible? Il. Bet not even 1 Judge has complained! There is the problem!
