We're Peter and Yen, Kiwi Asians that have grown up and lived in New Zealand pretty much our whole lives (since the ages of 3 and 4). We love NZ and Kiwi culture!
Over the summer we thought it would be fun to make this video listing out some of the most iconic Kiwi things in our opinions so we hope you enjoy it!
Let us know what we missed, we thought of a couple more after we finished making the video.. doh! 🤦😅

@@gwennya1037 hi, so there are a few ways to immigrate to Aotearoa. you could have a new zealand nationality given if one of your parents is born in new zealand you could also apple for a skilled migrant visa with 160 points or more. or you could go to the new zealand embassy with a lot of money and they'll let you in. here is the link to apply for the skilled migrant visa www.newzealandnow.govt.nz/move-to-nz/new-zealand-visa/work-visa/skilled-migrant-visas goodluck

Hairy Maclary!!! Omg brings back childhood memories ☺️! Love a good L&P 😍 I miss Whittaker’s, that’s my favourite chocolate for sure! It’s crazy how many volcanoes we have. I remember the buzzy bee, pretty sure I still have one back home. PIES! Omg. Homesick now 😂🇳🇿❤️ Haha “oh shit”.

Yea for the longest time I never realised how much of our speaking was kiwi slang until working with people from other Western countries and they kept asking what certain things were that we would say lol 😅 and equally I love that kiwis watching our channel immediately recognize that we're from NZ just by the way we speak or certain things we say 😁👍

I'm a big fan of old school children's books! Would love to check out Hairy MacLary. We've never seen that soda! Love unique sodas. These iconic things are very new to us. Chocolate and pineapple lumps, yes!! Iconic scenery for sure. Would love to see a real kiwi. Great episode guys.

It's such a neat lil children's picture book! Great rhymes and cute stories 💕😊 haha I was wondering how much non-kiwis would recognize in this video! Guess not too much lol but that's great coz we're sharing the culture! 😊🇳🇿 Kiwis are really cute but shy lil nocturnal things and endangered unfortunately so easiest way to see them is at the zoo ❤️🙂

Love Your channel, I’ve subscribed. What is it with New Zealand that every different nationality embraces. I’ve met so many different nationalities from New Zealand whether it be Chinese, Indian or Polynesian that speak so highly of the place, they are very staunch about there adoptive place because of its harmony that unites everyone even there accent and yours is different, can tell your from NZ. Keep up the great content

Felt a little nostalgic when you featured the 4 Square store. They had one up the road from mine back in Dunedin. It was our local store. That or Countdown. Thanks for bring me back good memories of NZ :)

Love the intro! All these are new to us! Yes the Jandals haha!! Looool love that Jandal throw scene!! Yes that silver fern, always seen that in milk powder ads for NZ cows :P Oh I didn't realize Whittaker's chocolates is from NZ! Love them! Pineapple lumps look yums! Yes Anchor! Maori culture, I remember that episode, love it! It's incredible to see that NZ is a Volcanic island, and TOTALLY agree with NZ iconic sceneries, that's why it's in our bucket list to visit NZ! Yay Kiwi! and Yay Kiwi Fruit! Omg now I see the similarity in both of them since you put them side by side haha! Buzzy Bee is so cute! Dang that meat pieeee, I need to watch your pie episode again!

Or have you tried it somewhere else before? 🙂 It's the best chocolate 🤤 hahah yea kiwifruit got their name from the resemblance to kiwi birds 😁 funnily they're actually from China and original name is Chinese gooseberry.. not as marketable as kiwifruit ay 🥝😆 You guys should definitely make a trip to NZ and visit some of the beautiful scenic places, would love to watch the videos you make from Kiwiland! 😊❤️🇳🇿

It's manufactured in both NZ and Aussie! Guess it's a common breakfast cereal for our side of the world 😁👍 watties baked beans and tomato sauce are classics too 🙂👌💕

The L&P drink sounds interesting - what does it taste like? We'd love to have a mooch round 4 Square - we love looking round supermarkets abroad. The Watties are just like our Heinz and your Weet-Bix are exactly like our Weetabix!!! We'd LOVE to see a Kiwi Bird. 😎😍

Kinda like sprite but more lemony? 😁👍 4 square is lil convenience shop /local dairy kinda thing, supermarkets are a lot bigger here lol but they're great too! Ooo so interesting.. Weetabix haha 😂👍 we get Heinz here too! Kiwi birds are pretty cute and unique looking birds but they're nocturnal and endangered so easiest place to see them is at the zoo ❤️

What about those gummy jet plane lollies? Almost every kiwi I know (and myself) have eaten those during a long road trip. I would also consider the Skytower as maybe one of the most iconic buildings in the country.

We usually have a good variety of canned or dried beans in the super market. Unfortunately not so many fresh beans though.

@@PeterandYen Niiiiiiiice. Dried and canned beans are the most important for me. Canned are more practical for mountaineering, it's hard to share the tent after eating so much beans.🦾😉

😂👍🏼 canned beans you can find easily in the big main supermarkets (like countdown, pak n sav, new world) but for dried beans you gotta go to the more specialty ones like Bin Inn.. they have a few dotted around the country.. here's their website so you get an idea plus store locations.. www.bininn.co.nz/peas-beans-lentils Alternatively I think a few Indian grocery stores sell them too (which you can look up on Google) but Bin Inn prob easier depending where you're visiting 🙂

In the 80s, there used to e 60 million sheep, that was 20 sheep per person... i guess they sheep quantities have remained steady but the population has increased
