These videos are in no way meant to replace the purchasing of commercially produced DVDs of SCTV. Making this series available is in no way meant to break copyright law. I am hoping fans of the series will have renewed interest in SCTV and will spread the word about this Classic Canadian Comedy Legend.
I have included all 185 episodes of the Syndicated Series of SCTV. Please note that the Syndicated Series has material not available on the current crop of DVDs, and also that the DVDs have material not available in the Syndicated Series. Please note that there is also material not available in either.
This means that at this time, the complete series is not commercially available for purchase. I hope you will consider signing the online petition at www.change.org/p/shout-factor...

One of the greatest SCTV characters in this show was Edith Prickley played by Andrews Martin. Her sassy laugh complete with blowing a quick raspberry into a growling ‘HA!’ is such a recognizable trademark of her character. She crossed over that character in the ‘Princess Carlotta’ sketch. Andrea’s timing and complete immersion in such goofy, vibrant, loud characters makes me appreciate what comedy is all about. Been a fan of SCTV since my early teenage years (I’m 48 now).

The syndicated half-hour show of the mid to late 70s, Second City Television, was much more consistent than the later 90-minute SCTV that aired nationally on NBC around 1980. While the latter was still mostly good, it seemed they struggled at times to create enough high-quality comedy to fill 90 minutes. Plus, it was riddled with A LOT of commercials. But both were vastly superior to SNL.

SCTV: The greatest sketch comedy TV show ever! and they did it on a small budget

And some real-life small budget stations in the U.S. aired "SCTV" when it was first syndicated south of the Canadian border. One such station was in the biggest market - WOR-TV (Channel 9) in New York City.

The King of the Pope's is genius and the characters are spot on.....the Star Trek restaurant spoof was excellent also. I really wish that SCTV was as a well-known as SNL. Canada tytyty!!!

Good eye. They also did the 'wigs for babies' first, Jeopardy, and many others. I watch both shows quite a bit and it's amazing how many sketches were original to sctv

Snl is also an sctv troupe, but they're nowhere near as good as these Toronto guys.

It drove me crazy back in the late 70s and early 80s how SNL was much more popular than SCTV despite being mostly crappy (except for Bill Murray).

All I know is that 40 years later I watch a lot more SCTV bits on KZfaq than SNL bits.

I met Richard Harris son Jamie at a film festival. He proposed marriage and spilled wine all over my blouse. I entertained the idea even if it were annulled the next day I could say I was Sir Richard Harris' daughter in law. Unfortunately all I got was a dry cleaning bill.

The Right Reverend Hugh Betcha's intro music is the same as that of The Star Hustler, Jack Horkheimer. The Star Hustler always seemed kind of creepy to me.
