To finish off the grading in the front of the yard, the last item I had to get rid of is a giant ~3' ash stump. Most of the prep work was done with the bx23s, but in the end some more power was required to flip the stump from it rootball.

Everything you do you deserve because the accomplishments you have achieved with just this piece of machinery and some rented here and there, presuming after you recent skid steer purchase you will be unstoppable. Keep up the great work.

I love it. I have a stump that I was trying to get with a bucket on my small tractor. I cut the roots with the saw all but the stump was stuck. The more I dug the more the tractor got stuck. Watching you take care of it with the backhoe was great. The way you got the rocks out of the roots was so cool. It was like watching machine porn. I sure wish that I had a backhoe. You did a great job on the video and the stump removal.😮😮😮🤨🤨🤨😀😀😀😀😎😎😎

Great little machines, they will do just about any job with patience. I'm getting ready to dig up a stump with my 23, but It's in loose sandy soil, and the stump isn't nearly as big as that one. Thanks for sharing !

I have an L2501 with the BH77. It has a little more oomph to it than the 603 but not much. Get as close as you can and dig a circular trench to China. They will fall over under their own weight. The E45 looks like fun too! Unless you need to mow grass, pick up a load of dirt, or grapple a thicket of branches.

Easy way to move that stump. Run up to it with the blade. Grab the back side with the bucket. Lift both at the same time. And walk anywhere you want with stumps bigger then that. Wish I still had my B27. Have a Wood BK7500 on my Kubota now. But its like a toy compared to the excavator.

Due to how much I wanted to adjust the grade there, along with how many rocks were embedded in that stump, it would have been a nightmare trying to grind that thing. Plus, I got to do a whole bunch more work with the excavator rental on my property than just pulling this stump.

I was just wondering if digging a really deep hole and then put that stump and broken roots and those large rocks down deeper and then cover with the soil to get rid of them all That excavator looks powerful enough to get them deep enough Ken in Florida
@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC
@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC Жыл бұрын
You can do that, however that does lead to a mess down the road as stump holes hold water and break down after a number of years. Id rather not have that on my property, plus, I had bedrock about 2' below the surface of my property. So not much deep digging to be had!

What's the problem with the e45? Looks like you have been running it forever! My only experience is that you get more from curling the bucket than you do with pulling with the arm? But that was my only experience. Just goes to show you, " the older you get, the bigger more expensive the toys are! Am I right? Dammit boy, you sure look like you know what your doing!
@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC

There were no problems with it, I meant that as a sarcastic joke in that it'll be tough to go back to using the bx23s backhoe after using that thing! I hope to get myself one of those someday soon!
@billbyrnes9505
@billbyrnes9505 3 жыл бұрын
I figured that, but was I right? I only ever borrowed one, once, and I noticed I didn't have much pull with the arm, but curling the bucket was a little easier? Have a nice New Year!
@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC
@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC 3 жыл бұрын
Correct. On backhoe/excavator arms, you have the most force on the bucket curl due to the ratio of lever arms to implement, as compared to the boom or stick. And same to you!

I've done this with a bigger piece of equipment on a smaller tree stump and it's a tremendous amount of work. While that tractor can do it so can a shovel you're probably better off renting a bigger piece of equipment for the day to get this one done.

What would be a fair price to charge for that job? Did you get rid of the stump and rocks?
@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC
@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC 3 жыл бұрын
Well, this was done at my own house, but if I were to do this as a job it would be the cost of getting + operating an excavator for a day plus disposal fees (all of which are different per area). In my area that would easily put you over a grand to get a stump like this out bidding it out to a contractor.
