When I lived in Bangladesh, I've had Wood Apple as a kid. It's scientific name is Limonia acidissima, that's what it's called in Wikipedia.

Correction please, Many of the fruits you mentioned are from central and south America. They were introduced and propagated by the conquistadores, British colonizers, Duich Traders, French planters. between 16th and 19th centuries. Guava, Anonna Family (Atis, Soursop, Cherimoya etc had acclimatized in many Asian countries.on the other handf, Manila Mango, Bananas, Jackfruit are now farmed in Mexico more than their original homeland. Many more examples, Just enjoy them and don't bother where they came from.

There was also for instance durians and Asian pears.

I have longan, which hasn't beared yet, a jackfruit,kafir lime, star fruit,custard apple, soursop,blood Orange, avocado,tamarind- not beared yet,a variegated lemon. I Had a Barbados cherry that died. I am very interested in how to get trees ir seeds of more exotics.

Pity Asian fruits generally aren't well known outside Asia. I'm in South Africa, and I doubt if Kaffir-lime will catch on here, with that name. :-) I was in Hong Kong in 1996, and pity I didn't know about Asian fruits back then, otherwise I would have tried them.

I cringe when I see "weird fruits from Asia." Just because it doesn't grow in the Western countries it becomes weird or just because something is not part of your common life doesn't mean it's odd.
