The title piqued my curiosity, not because I thought you really broke it but because I wondered how you were yanking our chain! You've given that tractor every test and it's passed them all. Good equipment, good operators.

Great Info & Video Tony , thanks a lot I only have 44 hrs on my T 474 I have a little hard time getting on my tractor with my knees , & getting on the Backhoe is almost impossible for me, so my wife went on it to do a trench for some wiring & I stood on the tractor to move it when was needed. We are a good team , & she did great!

Feel I see a day when it will be harder for me to get on off the tractor and I totally agree that the back who is the difficult part

Enjoy watching your videos. On the spit brakes, they are very useful for maintaining traction. If a wheel starts to slip some light braking to that wheel will cause the other wheel to pull you threw the situation you may be in. I know that todays tractors mostly have differential locks. Just another reason for split brake pedals. Have a Great day!

I know the split brake is still used in some instances, but for me, it’s just not a big deal. I do enjoy reading your comments, though.

Thank you for this review video. We're picking ours up on Friday and I was a little hesitant because I don't know much about them. We have a little 25HP LS and I really like that tractor. It's done anything I've needed it to on the farm, but my husband is using it more and more for his landscaping business. That has led into situations more often where we needed a bigger one. This review helped me feel better aboout the choice we made.

Thank you for pointing out the tips on going from L M H range and the 4X4 tip. I bought my TYM 474 3 months ago and while tilling a vegetable garden I was so frustrated shifting from low range to medium range. And while moving trees I cut down with my grapple the 4X4 was also (not nearly as much as the range selector) getting stuck. Great review

First of all I want to thank you for doing such a good job at covering the Tym tractors.I think I'm on round three of watching your videos and I always pick up on something I missed from the previous time I watch them.ill be getting delivery of my new T474 cab model here in about four weeks I got several implements with it,I have had and operated several tractors over the last forty years and I definitely agree with you TYM has outdone themselves with there tractors.i went with the cab model because I do alot of snow removal and this will be my first cab model.Anyways keep the videos coming I enjoy watching and learning from them.

@@scottyb4606 I have no issues with visibility while using my implements.one thing I recommend getting is the hydraulic top link it makes using the box blade so much better as well as the landscape rake and straight blade.The only problem I've found with the tractor is keeping it clean.Also one more thing buy a leaf blower to help blow off the dirt after using it.

I am buying a T474 with a backhoe on Monday. I was looking at a Branson 3620 and had settled on it at a Branson dealer and decided to visit a TYM dealer that was closer to me and he showed me the 474. More HP (a lot more) and more features (Useful ones at least) for less money. Pretty much the same size tractor. I can't wait to start using it! It looks like a real beast!

There are no more Branson Dealers left. TYM bought Branson out. They are all TYM dealers and you can buy both models at all dealers now. The T474 is a solid modern tractor. I have 330 hours on mine and it is still going strong.

Thanks for another great video! I have a T394HST with FEL and backhoe, couldn't be happier with it after 300 hours. My key cover broke off at 30 hours and looks just like yours. My tractor has been worked harder than it should, and continues to be a great performer. Starts good in 0 degree temps when my other tractors barely crank. Aside from the key cover, my only gripe is that mine uses a sight glass to check the level of the Hyd-Trans fluid. I am fine with the sight glass, but it is located where you can't see it while you are filling. My manual says I need 9.2 Gallons of HT fluid. I found out when over filled, the sight glass looks clear as if it is empty so I add more but never find the fluid level in the sight glass. Turns out my tractor needs 7.5 gallons to fill to the proper level on the sight glass, so I wind up draining some and making a mess. Last weekend I pushed over a 4" dia. sapling, the tree broke off about 2' above the ground and tore my hydraulic return line under the chasis, which drained all of my fluid, when repairing the broken line is when I ran into the fluid level discrepancy (again). I remembered having the same problem at the 50 hour maintenance too, but this time I wrote it down and hopefully remember next time. No other complaints though, its a great tractor.

I have a TYM 494 HST. Great tractor. The one item I did change is the return hydraulic filter location and base. The TYM filters are 65.00 each and the filter base makes the filter hang below the frame ( not to mention the odd thread size and pitch of the filter). Which is not ideal for the backhoe attachment (full frame). So I swapped on a standard Donaldson base that is tucked further up behind the step and rotated 90 degrees (no longer hangs down). The filter is the same micron but 3x the flow rating. The bypass is the same 16lbs. The filter is almost 2x the size but only costs $28.00 locally. Finding the din 2353 l m18.5 fittings for the 10mm steel pipe connectors was a bit challenging though.

My PTO shifter binds like that sometimes on my T25. Anyone who has had an old 4x4 with manual shifters knows to not try to force things in because gears do bind. Just wiggle things around a bit and they'll fall right into place. As for my PTO, it's a 2 part process. First you shift the PTO lever then turn the little actuator to on. When it binds, turn the PTO dial to on then shift. If it grinds, quickly shift back to PTO off, turn the dial back then everything will become unbound and will function fine. These are not $100,000 tractors so don't expect them to do expensive tractor stuff. That being said, anyone who watches Millennial Farmer's KZfaq channel knows that $500,000 tractors have problems too.

@@TonysTractorAdventure I can't say my T25 has been problem free. At 40 hours my power steering hose wore through and dumped all my hydraulic fluid out on the ground. @TonysTractorAdventure

I think it would be fine for a single stack on a trailer. It can lift it, but I don't think it would have the height needed for a double stack on the trailer. The T474's big brother, the T494, might be a better fit for hay. The T494 and T574 are the same tractor minus the Turbo.

Great video - you are informative and easy to listen to. I have been watching tractor reviews for a month solid trying to make a purchase decision. This tractor is almost perfect except for the surprisingly low PTO hp. The hyd. pumps are 11.5 gpm which is low but I figure with 2 pumps and split duty that is probably okay. I'm about sold but for my 7ft flail mower. It requires ( suggested) 35hp PTO. What is your experience. That looked like a pretty big tiller you had on it. Thank you
@TonysTractorAdventure
@TonysTractorAdventure 2 жыл бұрын
I don't know why TYM rates the PTO HP so low. In reality it about 35-40 hp at the PTO. I don't think they updated the literature when TYM started putting their own engines in. I pull a hydraulic Brush Tiger (PTO Driven) and the T474 never even slows down.
@court2379
@court2379 Жыл бұрын
I have the T433 and being gear driven nearly all of that makes it to the PTO. I run a small square baler without issue, and a 6ft drum mower OK. It could use a bit more. When the grass gets dense I have to slow my forward pace considerably. The newer model having a bit more HP should make up for the transmission difference and probably give you a similar experience to what I have had. Considering a flail has to grind it up, my guess is you should go up a size. It will probably do it, but you will often be stopping to let the mower speed back up after hitting tough patches. I think I would choose the T494 or T574 for that application. Don't know if the frame size changes on that. I wouldn't get any of the Branson models as they cannot lift as much.

@TonysTractorAdventure
@TonysTractorAdventure 2 жыл бұрын
The width of the rotary cutter has nothing to do with their duty rating. Medium duty, heavy duty, or even light duty, is a rating used by how big of brush you can cut down. The t474 can easily handle a 6-ft rotary cutter. Light duty cutters generally can only handle one and a half inch saplings before it starts. Damaging the rotary cutter. I never recommend a light duty rotary cutter, ever!
@sbhjackson5931
@sbhjackson5931 2 жыл бұрын
@@TonysTractorAdventure I know the width of a rotary cutter has nothing to do with the rating of heavy duty or light to medium. I also know the rotary cutter I am looking at cuts up to 1.5 in sapplings. I was just curious as to what you were running (60 in or 72 in) off the 474.
@TonysTractorAdventure
@TonysTractorAdventure 2 жыл бұрын
I have stopped running a rotary cutter all together. I use a flail mower. I apologize if I insulted your intelligence, but by the way your original comment was written, I interpreted it as you were a new tractor owner. Still, I recommend a medium duty cutter or heavy duty if you go that way. A good rule of thumb on all mowers is 5 PTO horsepower per foot.

@@TonysTractorAdventure No apology needed I'm to old to be sensitive lol. I am new to tractors I heard that the 474 can handle a 6-foot cutter if it's not heavy duty, if the cutter is a heavy-duty cutter (up to 3 in brush I think) then the 474 should drop down to a 5 foot if it's a heavy-duty cutter.
