Just wanted to add to this gentleman's list of pros/cons on the 474. I agree with everything he mentioned, and pound for pound, this tractor is the best value in a compact tractor. Before being turned on to this tractor, I was ready to sign on a Kubota L4060 with cab. That tractor was 8 horsepower smaller and twice to price! I paid the same for mine, $31,000, and the L4060 was over $60k! With a front 66" blower, third function, and set of forks, I was at just over $40 out the door. Now I will say this.... If you want to spend twice the money, I like some things much better on the Kubota. The cab is much bigger on the Kubota, and the fit and finish is much better than the TYM. The overall physical size on the Kubota, looks and feels bigger. Time will tell, but I see no sacrifice in Quality or power in The TYM powerplant. In fact, that (along with price/value) was a huge reason I went with TYM. The Kubota, along with John Deere and many others, have computer-controlled Fuel injection. The TYM (to the best of my knowledge) is the only major brand, that still has a mechanical injection pump. Which means that after my warranty is up, I will not have to run to the dealer every time it "won't run" and dish out thousands of dollars to diagnose and fix computer issues. The Kukje engine is so simple, I should be able to diagnose and fix nearly any problem myself. It is my understanding that the only sensors on the whole tractor, are for the few gauges on the instrument panel, and one that senses the exhaust for controlling the re-gen. Also, this means that once my warranty is expired, I can delete the DPF and never have to worry about re-gen issues again. The other brands, (to my understanding) will either not run correct, or not run at all with a deleted DPF because the sensors send info back to computer regarding the exhaust output. These are HUGE reasons to consider the TYM. Don't take my word, ask your dealer about these things. Here are things I DONT like about the TYM and wish that they would address. 1- The controls for the 3-point hitch draft, and rear remotes, are buried down under the seat. They are not easily accessable for ease of use. I would like to see them put up higher in the side console where you can see, and reach them much easier like Kubota does. 2- There are days in the summer when You may not want to use the air conditioning but need ventilation. While the rear window does open, it lets in too much dust from your implement. I would like to see them add "quarter windows" at the rear of the doors, that can be kicked open different amounts like Kubota has on their cabs. 3- not sure why the fender clearance is not equal all around rear tire. ( they are very close to the tire in the front) I am thinking they did this to make the bottom of the doors wider for getting in and out. This is not a huge issue, but I foresee it being a problem should I ever want to add rear tire chains. 4- Overall fit and finish in the Kubota cabs, is much nicer. (huge difference in quality) And the cabs on the Kubota are much roomier. Having said this, I still feel the TYM is an incredibly better value. The things I like better about the Kubota, are not enough reason to justify twice the purchase price! And I think moving forward, TYM could improve on these cons without adding much to the overall price. And mechanically speaking, I think the Kukje engine is arguably one of the best (if not the best) engines available in any compact tractor. I hope this helps anyone shopping for a compact tractor.

Those are some impressive observations my friend and I agree with you point for point. I like what you brought out of some of those facts and I even learned a couple of those after making the video!! Thanks so much for commenting and adding some great insight. That’s the whole point, trying to help some one be more informed! Keep it up and thanks

I agree with your assessment on picking the right dealer. You need to have a dealer that you are comfortable with. Most of the compact tractors are very similar and most brands are reliable. Each had their little perks that they provide, but the dealership is an extremely important. Like yourself, I'm not the handiest person, so having that good dealer support (or a nephew that is really good with tools) is important.

1st of all, great video. 2nd don’t ever apologize for buying what you want. Those green and orange tractors add 10k to their tractors because of name.

We bought out 574 this past fall . I just completed the first 50 hour service . I 1000% agree with you on everything. TYM is the best pound for pound tractor on the market . With all the options including the optional front remote we paid $42k out the door including delivery to our home in North Carolina. We bought ours from Oneida tractor in Tennessee. In the deal we had also added a 6 foot rotary mower . And as a comparison we also looked at the kubota 6000 series and the John Deere cab series . Price wise the kubota which did not have any factory remotes was about 14k more ! And the John Deere was absolutely just stupid money . They are certainly proud of their tractors 😳 . I also agree with you on the cab noise . Something I think TYM needs to address a little better . Definitely need headphones or ear plugs . For me that is my only complaint . Thanks for the great and honest review .

I came out of a small Kubota, to this same tractor you have. No problems thus far, and got a lot of tractor for the money. Thanks for posting your video.

Had a TYM 353 for 13 years no cab got tired of freezing plowing snow on a mile long dirt road. Traded it in for a 574 cab with heat and AC 20 more hp huge difference also got the factory 3rd function and a 7 foot hydraulic plow. Takes 18 minutes for what used to be up to 8 hours in deep snow. Previous tractor only had the front end loader plowing with a bucket is not very efficient. I looked at the 474 but for not that much more the 574 can do anything I might need in the future. My 574 is not that loud in the cab can definitely listen to the radio.

I have the 474 (600 hours) with the cab, loader and backhoe. I added the 3rd function as well as rear tire spacers and chains. I wear hearing protection at all times and can use the radio and the phone. I do idle down to use the phone.

T474 is a great machine, I've got 460h with no regen or any problems to date. I've also got mine decked out with everything you can get on including two rear remotes minus mid PTO.

I have the same tractor that I bought for the same reasons, although my dealer is farther away. My wife talked me into the cab and I'm glad she did. If I worked a lot in the woods with it that would be a different story, open cab would be better. It gets hot here in N. Cal. but minus the humidity. I know what your summers can be like, I'm from W. KY. That A/C cranks.

My 454 has been great. Timber is good for two things, tearing equipment up and hurting people and thats with heavy equipment. I dont touch anything of anysize with mine that aint a log already. My 710 would wipe its ass on both of our tractors at the same time and I still cringe clearing. Just my thoughts, take care.

i have a 2022 TYM T494 , my question is the 474 and 494 are about the same price. the 494 is bigger with more features. what made you choose the 474 over 494? the mech fuel inj. KUKJE is the main reason I looked at 474 494 and 574. the 574 has a turbo the 494 no turbo. the 494 574 and 474 same a2300 engine. the 574 has a turbo. I wanted the most simple modern tractor engine on the market. great vidjas, Mr tenn. Rick Canadarago lake ny PS the hard lines all the way to the bucket is rare on any brand. even them there KU-BOATERS for an Xtra 18k

Great question. Mainly, they had this model on the lot and I hit a great deal on what he had. Also, like you, I wanted a simple tractor. I also wanted something as small and light as I could get that still had a cab. And the dealer said that the 474 was what I’d want. I know you can get smaller ones but, again, that’s what they had lol. Thanks for the comment!!

Thanks for the info, I love this tractor, sat on one yesterday, I just dont know if its strong enough to skid trees, I know it has the power. Have you done any skidding and grapple work?
@westtnliving2222
@westtnliving2222 4 ай бұрын
Indeed, I have done tree work with my tractor. It has a load of power, but I’m also comparing it to my little 25 hp tractor. It does not quite have the grunts that a skid steer would have. But it is surprisingly powerful. Thanks so much for coming.

Question For either the gentlemen that posted the video, or any of the folks with similar cab machines. How well do the cabs seal up? The good lord saw fit to bless me with horrific allergies, how well would you say the cab seals for cutting fields, etc

I have done a bunch of bush hogging for folks and I have found it to stay really clean. Although I have an inch thick of dust on the instrument cluster, I can bush hog and not sneeze my face off lol. Great question, thanks for the comment!!!

Thanks for the response, I really appreciate it. I’ve left most of our property woods, but have 5-6 acres I need to cut and I’ve been hoping that I won’t spend a bunch of money on a cab tractor only to find out I still am ready to die when running (likely) a flail
