Honestly I think that these gains are a testament to your work ethic and the analytical approach you have when it comes to learning finance and teaching all of us. Thanks Spencer! My next couple videos will elaborate more on my process and what I have learned. I would like to think I am just getting lucky... because believing I have special knowledge or an ability to pick stocks/options seems like a disaster once the market starts going down... which, I have a suspicion will occur sometime this Fall.

Jake congratulations on your success and I’m very happy for you! Believe it or not, I too am up the exact same amount of money since January 1. This market is unbelievable! For me I think the answer is to be long in the stock market with certain very conservative positions. I do want to get into options but I need to add more to my brokerage account to get that moving. I did notice your Fidelity positions were mostly options from a previous video you uploaded to your channel so I was not too surprised when you said your Fidelity account is doing so well. I have personally witnessed two people (my late mother and a former boss of mine on Wall Street) lose six figures from bad options trades so obviously I’m not too motivated to get into options trading to the extent that you are. Please be careful! Anyway, I certainly want to congratulate you again on your hard work and your good fortune and I really wish you well!

I rarely comment on anything, but this video I had to share my congratulations! I have watched just about every trading challenge update and your humility and honesty has made this update my favorite by far. It is great to see humbled people who just want to share their experience and knowledge along the way. I have learned a lot by watching your videos and root for your success in every update! After you "retool" the challenge, I hope you go for 2 commas ($1,000,000) across all brokerage accounts! Although, It seems inevitable given your knowledge, strategy, and "I don't care about the market" potential contraction i.e., becoming a bear. Keep up the great run and excellent content!

Thanks Triemferent! I buy to open calls that are 4-6 months out and want to sell to close them 1-2 months before they expire. This minimizes theta decay and I'm not paying too much for extrinsic value. I also usually just go with the closest OTM strike price to the current share price.

Hey Therese! Welcome to the channel! Great to have you with us! As for sectors for this summer, I feel like it is way too soon to know what will happen in three months. But if I had to make a bet right now, I would say healthcare stocks have been the most ignored and might be the most likely to outperform this summer (just a guess).

That's a very clever question, haha. And yes, I can see myself putting my original $25,000 in defensive stocks I would like to hold long term anyways and then only continuing risky options trades with the house's $25,000. That seems like a happy compromise.

Hey John! I like to buy to open expiration dates 4-6 months in the future and my goal is to sell to close them by 2 months before they expire. In my opinion, this minimizes the loss from theta decay and I'm not paying such a high premium for extrinsic value alone.

@@JakeBroe I have always gone from a week to a month, but feel with how the market is now it might be wise to go out 4-6 months. Just wondering how long this bull market will last. Getting ready to retire next year and don't want to gamble to much money. Looking to find some Fidelity and Schwab Funds that will help me from age 60 until. This is something I will not need to count on for retirement.

Technically, yes. But you will have to gamble on penny or small cap stocks and hope you get lucky that a relatively unknown stock surges out of nowhere. I am leveraging my money with options or very well known, predictable large cap stocks.

Haha, very tempting... I currently drive a 2012 Honda Civic with 140,000 miles on it. It's tempting to get a new car... but I'm too smart for that. I'll keep driving this Honda until it dies to save money. Money saved today is more money to spend tomorrow!

Jake i messed up 😥 I did a vertical call spread on SQ. Bought a Call at 255 and sold one at 260. SQ ran up to like 274 then the coinbase stock hit and brought the market down a bit. SQ closed at 256 leave my bought call in the money but my sold out. Looking at how SQ was dropping, I let the call exercise in hopes SQ would rally to at least 260 so I can sell at a profit rather then a loss but ATM I’m holding the 100 shares at 255, while owning Schwab 16k 😩 Will Schuab automatically sell my shares on Monday or will I have time for it to rally before margin call?

Most likely you will have till the end of Monday to come up with the money or they will sell your shares to cover the buy. Why didn't you sell your call to close rather than exercising it? Even if SQ goes to 265 the buyer of the contract might not exercise it depends on their cost basis.

@@MegaTxDude I didn’t sell it because I thought it was going to drop below 255 so I didn’t worry about it. Coinbase really messed up the market.. No reason it should have dropped like that but I’m confident it will hit 260+ tomorrow then I will be fine. Only way things go bad is if the price drops lower.

I'm going to be honest JB, I have only ever held options contracts until expiration twice and that was just as a test to see what would happen. I always recommend you buy to close or sell to close your contracts before expiration (for a profit or a loss) because what happens over the weekend after the markets close on Friday can get weird. I want to imagine you will have some time on Monday before Schwab liquidates positions to get you back within margin requirements. Hopefully the market will have a green monday!
