Busy few days for the lads installing the robots, we look around the bulk tank from liscarroll engineering in Ireland, Rufus gets his first look in the fully lined out dairy room, I have a window in my office complete with THE INTERNETTTT, me and Roy chops some wood up to tidy up the building site, Kate gives a thank you to everyone who donated money to her and Peter’s just giving.

in 2009 i had no experience of farming or the realities that came with it. That soon changed when I met my other half Roy, I had a job as a carer and in every spare moment threw myself into farming. I had only ever driven a Nissan Micra and had experience with horses, I learnt the hard way as nobody had the time to show me and soon after arriving I found myself mothering on calves to three quarter bred limmy cows. We spent every available moment on the farm between our day jobs. Fast forward to 2016 two children later we moved into our very own farm overlooking the northern Pennines, Laitha.
we are in a transitional period at present and will finally be milking cows and making the final switch later this year, after years of planning and implementing infrastructure we will be milking 120 Jersey cows on two Lely robots. This will be a huge change and a steep learning curve

I am overjoyed to be a farmer. I feel so fortunate every day to wake up and do what I love and even better share it with the world and hope it inspires more young people from Preston to spread their wings and think outside the box the world doesn’t need more childcare workers or hairdressers it needs more farmers.

You need to get a sprayer for the quad so you can spot treat the weeds Spray ing whole field and risk stunting the grass growth

Been using ThistleX (and Grazon90) for years. Next day delivery from Pro Green; no problems with Sheep or Alpaca grazing. Love the way ThisleX kills down to the root which then disappears.

I realise that spraying is the answer to many things but for smaller areas cutting several times Prior to flowering is a fair cure and no residuals.

A few videos back there was a heated debate about which side of the rsj panels should be on. Now remember a farm I visited where they stood on the inside and they poured concrete like a triangle at the same height as the panel to easily scrape clean with their wiedeman 😊

Just wondering: How is it for you and Roy to now finally, after 15 years, see it all come together at the pace it does? Watching the videos it seems to have gone awfully fast, feels like only a month or two from a roof sheltering piles of rubble, wood and machinery to a fully kitted out cow shed. I know you've had it in your heads for so long, really happy and excited for you to now seeing it all really come together. You're hurdling towards the finish now!

I watch a dairy farmer from New Zealand that milks all Jerseys. I think that they are mostly registered. They only milk once per day. I think around 300 cows. The Son has a heard along with his dad's heard.
