Probably one of the best things about Bangkok is the fact that you these great pockets of areas with food, markets, malls and entertainment sprinkled throughout the city that are becoming more and more accessible every year with the expansion of the BTS. Love the video. Keep up the great work.

Great video mate. This is a definite contender. It’s a few months after you uploaded it but in mid-feb ‘24, according to hipflat, they have 25 units available starting at $265/month, plenty of which are below my loose $350/month limit. Great find 👍

Hey Cal! I'm a Toronto guy too and moving to SE Asia/Thailand in a couple of months. Just found your channel and watched a few of your videos already. Never considered the Rama 9 area before but now I'm going to look into it. Having Jod Fairs is cool but does the area also have a bunch of mom and pop restaurants and good street carts for food during the day? I think a foodie tour of your area would be interesting too. Keep her going bro!

Hi Cal, thx for the video! Some of the best no-nonsense content I have seen so far👍🏼👍🏼 I am relocating from Greece - Danish digital nomad - I am right now in Bangkok, but will go to Saigon next week, to check Vietnam out. Expect tp be there for a month or so, and then most likely return to Bangkok to find myself a apartment, so I wonder if you could inform me if there is a rental office in the Lumpinii Place complex, or where to look for apartments in your building-area? Thx in advance 🙏🏼

This condo doesn't have a rental office. I walked up to the juristic office and asked about rentals, and was connected with an agent. There are also agencies that advertise on sites like Propertyhub, but I prefer to walk in as the recommended agents will generally have better knowledge and trust!

Hi Cal, love the video and tour round the neighbourhood and apartment. A few questions. Is the kitchen large enough to cook in there, eg to make a curry or stir fry using a wok etc..? Have you any plans to live anywhere else in Thailand, eg Chiang Mai or the islands and beaches further south? Lastly, do you have a timeline on how long you'll stay in Thailand, or do you plan to stay indefinitely? Cheers, Ian (from the UK)

I’m not too familiar with plastic surgery but this is one of the biggest medical tourism destinations in the world. You have quite a large range of options depending on budget. For accommodation, 6 month leases are very easy to negotiate. You are better off avoiding Airbnb if you can do a 6 month lease as they take a huge cut.

Haha huge range of prices...fruit between 20 and 100 baht (has almost every type of fruit, including exotic stuff like cherries)...coffee ranges from 35 to 50 baht with the machines and not much more at the shop. Massage standard price - 200-300 per hour, but can be higher depending on massage (basically the same as you will find at a shop). I haven't actually done laundry, as the units have washing machines...there is a huge self service one, and drop off services. I think drop off is charged by the kg...again standard rates around 50-100thb. Cheers!

@thebangkokguide
@thebangkokguide 9 ай бұрын
To be honest censorship isn’t very prevalent here…it’s illegal to insult the Royal family, so avoid anything like that, and defamation laws mean people sue each other for random stuff. Beyond that there isn’t actually much censorship…frankly I don’t think the state has the capacity to actually do it.

Having a swimming pool in your flat complex is a luxury and it definitely wouldn't happen in Sweden. I've come across it in London, but the rent is sky high. Bangkok seems very modern. I'll make sure to mention this, when people mock me cos I was adopted.

Bangkok is very modern...the value is just a lot better. People in western countries have very outdated views about the levels of development in non-western countries...its a bit of a propaganda bubble that pushes a superiority narrative.

@@thebangkokguide thank you. I stand corrected regarding the location. All I’m saying is I just spent three weeks looking for a house in thong Lo BTS and prices have skyrocketed from a few years ago . Without pool, 4 bed starts at 75000 b, evidently there are houses for 50k b but they are in sub soys. A big modern villa with pool is min 3700 gbp. The British road as it’s known is 120k b, I just saw three townhouses there. The address on 28 is 600 gbp month. The diplomat, 760. The Vittoro in well over a grand. Blame the Koreans shopping daily at Gucci emsphere 😀

@thebangkokguide Ай бұрын
I think it depends what you’re looking for. There is a pretty extreme stratification in the market based on how renovated a place is, especially in the housing market. The heavily renovated houses are targeting a very wealthy market segment that is kindof out of whack with the actual market prices. Houses in general are still quite cheap but the luxury market is quite overpriced. Always check with multiple agents as well. My friend went through 4 before he found good deals!

Planning on staying there 5 to 6 months out the year I work in the hospitality industry so our busy season is between March and September so I wanna stay in Thailand, October through February. To my understanding there is a six month multi visa that Thailand offers but you can only stay 60 days at a time so I’m assuming I have to leave on the 59th day and return on my 61st day can I country hop to do that say go to Vietnam on day 59 and then come back on the 16th or do I return on day 61 and it starts the 60 day process all over again, any info you can give me to make sure I’m doing the right thing would be deeply appreciated. Yeah you can find condos in this price range quite easily…just make sure you are near a BTS or MRT. Condos in Bangkok are very modern so you won’t have any problems with toilet paper or anything like that!
