FA Cup replays have created some of the greatest moments in English Association Football. And now they've gone. Shame on the Football Association for coming to that decision.

They also played each other In a league game during the FA Cup marathon. Surprise surprise the game was drawn.

Proper football that was ... Glad I grew up in that era and not the overrated rubbish we have today ... Money, TV and now VAR has ruined the game.

Totally with you. Same here. Football was simply great in those days, it's all fairyland now. Glad I was born when I was.

So we can’t find time for replays and accommodate all of these ridiculous two week international breaks frequently for friendlies!

Arsenal played 22 FA cup ties in 1978/79 and 1979/80.
@fisherpeter69516 күн бұрын
That was some record. Though in January 1981 the Gunners lost an FA Cup 3rd Round defeat at Goodison Park their first defeat in the Cup outside Wembley since 1977.

@@fisherpeter695 Arsenal achieved a remarkable feat of reaching the FA Cup Final in consecutive years, 1971 and 1972, without being drawn at home.

I hitch hiked up from London to see this game as well as the earlier replay also at villa park.

I was at this game, I went hysterical when Kenny equalised, mind you by the time he did we should have been 5-1 ahead.

I'm 55. The moment KD equalised remains one of the top ten moments of my life. Dearie me!

Can you imagine the diva and prima-donnas of today and what they would say if they had to play a semi-final that ran to 4 games ? Poor little lambs would cry their hearts out ! Different era back then - gone for ever sadly

The desecration of the fa cup was a sign of the collapse in quality which was since witnessed

I know exactly where I was when Kenny equalized - going mental in a garage in rural west Wales with my best mate. However, I can’t remember us having so many chances in extra time. Should have won it!

That Arsenal had to play 2 finals in 5 days cause of the constant replays with Liverpool damn shame cause i think we could have won an FA cup and Cup Winners Cup double that season

TBF, the country was on its knees back in 1980. Football was better, though.

If no replays, then the lower tier teams automatically get a home fixture... a Premier League Club will always play away if drawn against a lower division Club... ⚽️
