Frank's death always haunted me to no end. For a stupid mistake he dies within seconds. What's more tragic, if anything, is that in the final fight at the soldiers' outpost it was pouring down mad. It means, if the four of them stayed in the apartments the movie would've been much, much shorter and Frank would still be alive. He took a risk for everyone's sake and he paid the highest toll... 😢

Fun fact: Garland actually wrote a screenplay for a live action Halo Combat Evolved film that was going to be an R rated sci fi action horror movie as the developers of the game were very impressed with 28 days later and believed he could make a suspenseful portrayal of a zombie enemy group from the games known as the flood which was already pretty scary in the game.

@@0sAndOnes They had both, if I'm not mistaken. From what I remember, the oldest zombies (as the one in cryostasis in the beginning of the movie) move the slowest. Fresh zombies killed in a not so gruesome way move the fastest (meaning, they weren't torn apart by the horde thus getting their dead bodies in decent conditions to run) Even taxidermy dogs were revived. That toxic gas and people were getting deathly sick from it. It was my first zombie movie I watched and it got me terrified by the impending doom that gas had going. They eventually nuked the city (in Umbrella fashion) but the after credits scene show the nuke cloud mixing with that gas, making radioactive rain and spreading that zombie toxin nationwide.

I always thought the people that were dead in the church were just infected that had already died from starvation/exposure. The implication is that infected tend to hide from sunlight. Thats why one of the rules salena and mark tell jim is "never go out after dark unless you've got no choice" I always took that to mean infected tend to be mostly active at night. Which is why we almost always see attacks in the evenings or indoors

This movie has a very special place in my heart. When I was a teenager me and some of my friends at the time were absolutely obsessed about it, we watched it almost every weekend drinking beers and having a blast. I remember listening to the soundtrack, playing "in the house, in a heartbeat" on my guitar or listening to covers, joking with my mates using dialogues from the film, drawing portraits of the characters, reading the comics (the Aftermath and the Selena one) searching prehistoric youtube (2009-10) for deleted scenes, alternative final scenes and even home made videos about the film or inspired by it. The sequel was absolutely fantastic too. Sadly we never got a third film...still waiting after all these years

I still remember Selena hacking Mark as probably the scariest scene in the entire movie. He was their friend, they weren't sure if he was infected, so seeing Selena kill him while he's still conscious along with his howls of fear and pain (and seeing his arm chopped off) really unnerved me. It was so cold and brutal. Also, thank you Dead Meat for making me realize Naomi Harris also played Chiron's mother in the movie, Moonlight at 8:54. She KILLED that role.

She and Danny Boyle came up with a backstory for Selena to explain why she was so cold and merciless. They decided that she'd had to kill her whole family in one afternoon, killing both her mother and father in the hopes of saving her baby brother, only to find that he was infected too. Knowing that adds so much to why Frank's death hits her the way it does, and why she looks out for Hannah.

I saw this film when I was 10 years old (21 years old tomorrow). The first kind of horror film I saw was Shaun of the Dead so the jump from that to this was huge. This was the only film that has ever creeped me out. Even the soundtrack in the film and the themes explored in the film; whether subtle or overt, have had an inspiration on the music I write. Great video!!

it took me a while to get to 28 days later and 28 weeks later. I really love both the films, but 28 days is such a serious film that I found myself thinking about it more. They definitely jumped up the list of some of the best for me. Just like train to busan, this film actually has some emotional weight. Not only him losing his actual parents, but then losing Frank the man he started to see as a father. Also really love the full circle "Rage" theme by the end. Showing the protagonist portraying the same level of brutality as the infected. Yet it is those he is attempting to kill that are truly monstrous and evil or on the same morality level of the infected. Its also nice seeing one of Cillian Murphy's first works and he is great in the film.
