Our early attachment relationships with our caregivers have a strong influence on the way we currently feel in our bodies, carry ourselves, and behave with others. They also impact how well we regulate our emotions, which emotions we are allowed to feel, and the kinds of conclusions we make about people ("relational knowings").
Sometimes the adaptations we developed to ensure that our parents continued caring for us are no longer effective in our current life. Therefore, we can learn to use our resources to change our attachment patterns so that we can have healthier and more satisfying relationship experiences now.
In this video, Dr. May reviews all of these concepts plus offers several exercises designed to improve your insight and relationship awareness and develop a path forward.
*All videos to the sensorimotor psychotherapy (SP) series can be found in the "Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Skills and Exercises" playlist at • Sensorimotor Psychothe... .
**In addition to SP, this channel contains videos of ALL the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Radically Open DBT skills, and much more! Please check out the other videos and feel free to SUBSCRIBE.
