The camera work on this one makes me appreciate how much LPL has grown and improved over all these years. He really puts a lot of effort into continually getting better. Thanks for all you do, LPL!

Wow great job picking in that keyway. I've seen the KeyMark keyway for the first time the other day and I thought no way. But now you've shown us there's a hole to work with so now it doesn't seem so bad. Thanks for sharing that.

Thanks. This is the same method presented in my video #82, and it is discussed in a little more detail. :-)

I found that the dimple tension wrenches with the angled blades makes a great tool for pin tumbler locks that have weird bottoms, they provide a nice flat to pick from.

I fucking hate your videos! You make this look so freaking easy! How long have you been doing this? I remember the first time I saw these videos and thought to myself "Wow this is so easy", boy was I wrong. You've got such a humble attitude and your ability to be calm and rational in your communication process is incredible.

I used this video as a guide on how to pick open my keymark locks. I currently use keymark locks that I had master keyed and a change key. For all my interior locks. And medeco for my exterior doors. It took me a bit of time as I'm not nearly as skilled.

I'm glad you post vids using that type hook. I now have a #7 Peterson in .018 and a high reach Sparrows in .025. Now I just need to save some shekels for #7 in .015. That's not as easy as it sounds since I'm disabled and on a shoestring budget but I'll get one. Thanks again for these great vids.
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
Thanks... the 7 Hook is one of my favorites. It is great for paracentric keyways. Be careful when ordering your next one. Peterson has two profiles that it refers to as a 7 hook. I suggest calling when you order and being explicit in what you want.

Anyone else watch these to see if there is something LPL can’t pick? It’s like watching police chase videos to see if someone actually escapes, which almost never happens.

Old video, new question from someone who doesn't know what is available on the market. Has Medeco combined their rotating pins with these eccentric keyways? If you can only just barely push up on to only one side of the key pin, I would think (with my only experience watching KZfaq picking channels) that would make single pin picking for rotation much more difficult, forcing the picker to both push and pull on the one side.
@JessHull7 жыл бұрын
very nice! those keyways always scared me but I've never seen one in person so I never knew about those access holes. If the drivers were spools instead of the key pins would it have been slightly trickier?
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
Same here... they look very intimidating. I just got a few of these locks and was pleasantly surprised by the accessibility of the pins. Would spools make it harder? Maybe, but not much IMO.

Someone educate me, I have to admit I've been out of the industry for 14 years, but after 38 years in the business I've never seen a Medeco without their trademark sidebar or with standard brass pins.

Interesting how there's no drill protection. I'm guessing the core is steel?
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
I highly doubt the core is hardened steel (or any kind of steel)... there just doesn't appear to be any drill protection in this lock. Certainly a little surprising, but not that much. Keymark is designed to be a retrofit lock (i.e., to fit in every conceivable kind of existing door hardware) for large institutions with really good key control... not a particularly high security lock. It's also possible that this was not pinned up for use. I got this lock from an old salesman sample kit. I speculate that the pinning kits for these might have some hardened steel pins, but that's just a guess.

No sidebar?
@rjperkins3657 жыл бұрын
I have thought about getting this lock ever since I knew they made it. Would love to pick a Medeco without the sidebar. I figure theres 2 camps with the Medecos those that pick it and say thats fun,and those that pick it and say never again. I'm the later.

So apart from a tough( at first sight) keyway and a couple of of spooled keypins there isn't much security there🤔🤔 I suppose not all Medeco's are made the same😉👍👍
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
That's about right. To be fair, without a perfectly shaped pick made out of really thin stock, these locks would be all but impossible to pick. There is only a very small sliver of the pin hole that can be accessed. But with the right tools, they are pickable.

I have a friend who keeps saying, "If he's not picking the lock while it's actually installed on someone's door it's not real!"
@mistapitts3 жыл бұрын
lol.... It's usually the exact same as if it were installed, and in the situations where it is not, he does use mounting mechanisms like vice grips. I think he's even used a replica doorframe. The method to pick a lock doesn't change after installed, at least with most locks. Sometimes the room for picking can get obstructed by something after installed, but that's a pretty rare case.
@kirillkapaln45362 жыл бұрын
thats a popular perspective. it adds a few factors. a keymark is impressive either way.
