A family was out on a bike ride in Garden Grove when a man hit them from behind. KCAL's Tina Patel has the latest on the investigation.

Do not ride your bikes on the streets. Yes, I know you should be able too, but just go to some place like the beach path and ride there. It's just not worth the risk.

If you think it's a healthy idea to ride a bicycle in Los Angeles you just don't understand that you're going to be hit and they ain't going to stick around

It's kind of like driving in Los Angeles and thinking all cyclists will follow traffic lights instead of zooming towards you then turn left ahead of you while screaming "share the road!" when you have green.

And a few months ago in Los Angeles a white man struck my parked car several times causing damage to my vehicle and while I was photographing the damage he tried to take off and struck another vehicle with a church pastor on crutches who is suffering from cancer. As I followed the hit and run driver with the police on the phone they instructed me to stop following him because they have his license plate number and will report it as a hit and run to the DMV. A month later I saw the same hit and run driver in Long Beach, California and called the police but they put my call on hold for nearly 15 minutes until the driver was long gone as I stopped following him (again) in hopes of helping the police catch this dude. Worthless police departments. No more tax paying for me. Period.

I have a BMX because I continually bunnyhop curbs to stay OFF THE ACTUAL STREET 99 percent of the time. What the family was doing on a wild street like that was a suicide mission.

There is a dip at the intersection of lamps-on & haster and for some reason (rushing through a red light) cars speed up. I’ve been cut off and wasn’t driving slow, that there is enough to not bring out my bike (even on sidewalks, garbage grove.
