What will happen?
Success? Failure? Shower of sparks?
We'll see.

Karl, for a good cheek riser, get a black SVD cheek piece, and shim it with some tape. Don't wrap the tape around the stock, but just get several layers underneath the cheekpiece. Best cheek riser ever with the triangle stock

79.80 vs 79.93 (Ian). It is great watching Ian improve his skillset.I discovered that I like watching modern firearms better than watching C&R weapons run in competition. The quirks of the old guns and ammo sucks some of the fun out of the runs. I still like them just not as much as modern weapons. Keep up the good work guys.

Poor interpretation of any statement I made. Society has always treated minorities different from the majority and forced them to fit into molds that do not fit. If society has to make all playing fields level, then all fields will end up empty, as there is not enough time and money to make everything even. I am old, and cannot compete with younger people like Ian, but I do not cry to everyone that society is unfair and has to change. I had my day and have done things that most people can never equal, but I never hold that above others that are achieving.

@Ian. Did you thought about getting rid of the G3 front sight? Watching Karl trying to fiddle his AK with its mighty front sight through the small holes in that barricade made me realize how much easier it was for you. You removed your rearsight because of the Spuhr stock, so no use for a frontsight anyway. Imagine having no front sight that could get blocked by such barricades or other obstacles? Should not be a big problem looking at the G3 frontsight part and would give your G3 an even more modern look :) Looking for Spuhr G3 on google pictures brings many frontsight less G3 up. Also one of your WWSD conclusions was something like "no need for ironsights if the optics are just fine", if i remember.

That was DAAAAMN close. Karl watch out, If he'd been allowed to freestyle those last three shooting positions he would have had you by several seconds. WITH A .308 OF ALL THINGS. Still though, that AK looks pleasant to shoot, it's ejection is so gentle it's confusing me, AKs are always so violent in action. Great shooting guys, I want to come out to AZ to do some of these matches. Maybe someday.

Derek martin on Sunday I was thinking of ways to try it out but with all the different dimensions from the different countries it would be hard to pull off. I was thinking a triangle side folding stock, a bolt carrier with lighting machining similar to the CA failed rifles, then I saw that faxon makes an ak replacement barrel but its OEM dimensions from what i got from it. But if that could make a "gunner" or "pencil" profile barrel for an ak with a mag release like a ras47 and a curved safety on the left side and some sort of dust cover on it. Kind of like the sig something. But yeah I'm sure you're getting a slight idea of what I'm talking about

I feel like the VTAC barricade should have been on the right - so basically mirror the stage - for left handed shooters, if they preferred to have it as such. I've owned one of those quad stack PUFGUN mags for a while and have put ~500 rounds through it, and have yet to have any issues. Mine has a steel reinforced locking tab though.

looking at Ian and Karl's runs without context, Ian seems to be much better with his accuracy, however it takes him longer to acquire targets and make the shot. Karl is a heavier guy and seems to have a little more trouble with the lower holes. I'm unsure if their weapons account for much of their successes or hindrances, but they both equal out in the end. In summary: this comment is mostly pointless just watch the video.

You have to take the year of development into context. When the AK and the AR vere aproved into service, having optics was not a standard for your average grunt. Nowdays it is, at least in the frontline. Modularity is a standard nowdays, and the design has to be adapted for that standard.

AK(M) was designed to be as simple as possible for an effective intermediate select fire rifle to be reliable, light (hence the stamping) and easy to learn. Price was not at the top of the list and is a side effect of not being an overengineered milled monstrosity like the FAL~~~

Question. Why did Ian have to engage last bank left port first? I reckon I could argue right hand advantage Karl using his barrel to pull his way across the prone firing positions whereas Ian had to push his way across those same targets. Not being a hater or looking to start a shitfight, just a genuine observation on stage procedure and the shooters freedom to engage presented targets within a defined target engagement position/area.

@otm646
@otm646 6 жыл бұрын
Gas and recoil spring pressure are adjusting different things. With a heavier spring the total recoil force will be sharper and you're increasing the rate a which the bolt moves forward. That's harder on the magazine feeding system. Adjusting the gas system is the way to go unless you're fighting other issues.

the validity is based only on your criteria. This is a match about 2 weapons that were good for their time and have faced upgrades which have only made them survive into modern times in current world military. the G3 and Ak74's will not be phased out anytime soon. the FAL however, was a relic from the past as a simple answer to a .308. The G3 a direct descendant to the STG 45 and its numerous incarnations have endured many real world trials (Mp5's MG8's) continues to be a powerhouse, as Ian further proves. Its almost as if the FAL fanboys just want everyone to know that its better than a G3. Though Falsely. The M14, would probably be a much better choice.

Would carbon building up in the gas piston be an issue? Say if i wanted to burn through a few spam cans say 700-800 rounds would carbon build up causing it not to get enough gas?

nathan butler If carbon did build up, it would actually increase the energy in the system by limiting bleed off instead of inducing more.

A lower gas setting will have fouling become an issue more quickly than if it was at the typical AK setting. That's why testing it is a good idea. However round count in matches probably isn't high enough for it to be an issue. But you never know so testing your gear after any modifications is probably a wise thing. Especially if that gear is going to be relied on for a major competition that requires taking days off work, time and money to attend.

Is this AK bolt supposed to cycle that slow maybe there is something wrong with my eyes but for me it cycles a bit slow
@brianyoung3324
@brianyoung3324 6 жыл бұрын
It's because of the adjustable gas system- the bolt is being pushed with a lot less force than usual. He did that to make the recoil more pleasant.
