Per many requests, we're going to do some content about the M4 "vs" the AK74.
Stage 1: 150 yards, 2 rather small targets, 5 shooting positions and a 90 second par time.
We both ran in Armored division as we recently received an excellent ballistic FAST helmet from Hard Head Veterans to test out. We plan to have a full review and discussion about that helmet by using it in a number a matches going forward.
Please check out Hard Head Veterans here:

You had way too much fun with this match and this video, and you didn't say 'tactical' enough. I can't take this comparison seriously.

That 74 has so much less recoil than I would expect from an AK platform. Nice

Nice match up, I know you two guys will give a genuine result and not play favourites. Be interesting to see you guys to swap rifles and run it again, I'd put money the result would reverse, No offence to Ian but Karl has more match experience with modern type rifles and that tiny difference in result could well be down to shooter experience or a damn lucky run. I still root for Ian in every match though (sorry Karl!)and was cheering those "Hallelujah" shots that went in while Karl was playing the smarter "3 round rapid" strategy. Loving the show, I'll be surprised if there's more than a piece of paper between the end results

In a combat situation, it is certainly reasonable to walk rounds into target. One, u may not be able to tell if u hit on first shot, and two, the hit might not have been effective or it takes time to have effect. Either way, additional shots are a good idea. As Karl points out, near misses are convenient suppressing fire. Great points about the advantage of low recoil wirh regard to your sight picture and follow-up shot. My M1 Carbine would see a lot of use at these matches, as would my AR. Garand would be a good change of pace sometimes too. Even a bolt gun or a 30-30....... :)

I would think that to truly gauge the effectiveness of the weapons, Ian & Karl should run the course, then swap weapons & re-run the course. In this way the skill set of the individual is taken out of the equation, more or less.

Ian, ive noticed this from watching a few of your 2 gun videos, but you seem to hesitate a lot longer than Karl does before taking shots. Are you trying to get a good sight picture or do you have a vision problem?. Was just wondering because you are a pretty good shot and it seems to be the cause of why on average you take longer to complete courses.

The 75 wasnt adopted in Czechoslovakia during the commie times, not by Army nor the Police. It was export article. Army used tokarev and 9mm makarov round for the pistols, and police 7.65x17 (.32 ACP).

i have a design question for you gentlemen. why dont more handguns eject to the left like the p38 and p1 walther for a right handed user a handgun that ejects left is easier to clear a malfunction do to you not having to contort your wrist in an awkward fashion why did the left side ejection not catch on
@TheHandgunhero

Americans use it more now than the M16. The M16 only gives an extra 50m effective range but is much longer than the handier M4.
