This video features US-75 north through the Dallas, Texas Metropolitan Area. The video goes from downtown Dallas north all the way to McKinney in Collin County, about 30 miles north of downtown. This video features the famous "High Five" Interchange with the LBJ Freeway (I-635), one of the most famous stack interchanges in the Lone Star State. This is one of the most thrilling drives in Texas and for good reason!

Btw, DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) light rail runs under Central Expressway from Mockingbird to downtown Dallas.

I took this route back in 2018 on holidays. Hwy 75, if you take it to its end, ends up in Winnipeg MB, just down the street from me. When I went south in December, I did not run out of snow until just before Dallas.

Interstate 45 was planned to be extended from Dallas to Tulsa over Interstate 345 and US-75, but the segment in Oklahoma was never built aside from a few interchanges.

If they allow tolls on the Oklahoma Portion it would be built.

This is literally my favorite stretch of freeway in the Dallas side of the Metroplex.

@@InterstateKyle, yeah, I agree. One of the best non interstates out there. Others are TX 114 in the Metroplex and TX Spur 366, just to name a few.

This part of Central Expressway used to be one of, if not the worst freeway section in the country IMO. Used to be four lanes with constant traffic until they finally expanded the freeway in the '90s.

The High Five is a wonder of infrastructural engineering right up until you try to drive through it during rush hour, in which it becomes the bane of your existence and begins a personal shift towards advocating against car-centric infrastructure

If you come to Dallas, you should do the drive on U.S.75 from the High-Five interchange, south to downtown Dallas. MUCH more impressive views that direction, especially as you get within visual range of downtown. Another great drive with excellent views of downtown and uptown is IH-35E heading south into the downtown area. Of course there are plenty of other great routes to see in this area too.

What's preventing TxDOT from renaming I-345 to I-45 and co-signing this section as US-75/I-45?

I heard I-345 is being demolished sometime in the future, so that could be a big reason why.

@@InterstateKyle 345 will be rebuilt like US 75 here, sunken and lower than the the ground. TXDOT is now saying that the demolition of the freeway and subsequent conversion to boulevards will be detrimental to the flow of traffic due to high car volumes

@@InterstateKyle They’ll probably sink the freeway far below in a trench so it would be out of sight of the residents, or better yet a tunnel once the viaduct goes down. Certainly a boulevard wouldn’t help with the high traffic volumes in the area.
