2nd alarm fire, 100+ firefighters in NW Washington DC, one firefighter injured

Жыл бұрынOn Sunday, May 21, 2023 around 6:45pm, Washington DC Fire and EMS responded to a working structure fire at a two story mixed occupancy on the 5200 block of Georgia Ave NW. The fire spread to the building on the delta side (right side from street view.)
Around 6:57pm a second alarm was called. There were approximately 20 units and more than 100 personal on scene.
One firefighter was treated for non life threatening injuries.

The DC Canteen unit, operated by the Friendship Fire Association, was unavailable, but Canteen 705 from Kensington Volunteer Fire Department in Montgomery County in Maryland.

Didn't even know they had those. I'm guesing it ia for those really large comercial fires that take a long time and tones of crew to put out.

Great video even if it is clean up and overhaul. Great looking apparatus as well. Love seeing the engine on the hydrant with water pouring out of the overflow. Doesn't DCFD have the Friendship Fire Association running a canteen anymore??? Very strange to see Kensington 705. Times change from when I was there in the 70s.

It's brand new. I'm hoping to do a video soon on DC's rescue trucks. Rescue 1 has been running on a reserve truck for a few months now.

Given DCFD operates 3 heavy rescue companies and the fact that the Mack is a MC cab I would guess that Rescue 4 is a reserve piece acquired from somewhere else. Just sayin 🤷 😊

Great video,. I always thought that DCFD always has nice looking apparatus and the Mack MC just proved my point , I've been a fan of DCFD since the 70,'s
