Still struggling to hit a 60 yard wide fairway with a 7 iron though, bring back Thomas so we can at least get an accurate comparison. Think that lads more a t350 sort of guy it’s all over the face. No offence meant but it’s not much of a review.

Great video, guys. On the Apex Pro's louder sound -- I know Callaway recalled some of the Apex Pro fitting heads because of some sort of construction problem that was causing sound issues, though it wasn't affecting performance otherwise. Do you all know if yours was one of those? When I demoed the new Apex Pro it sounded pretty quiet, but it's hard to really compare what I heard in person vs. what the microphone picks up.

Very informative. Would love to see a little bit of a closer fitting before going to the comparison. Michael for sure needed an upright lie on the Apex.

Head to head the 150 with the Srixon MKII ZX7. They look almost identical at address and lofts are the same for the most part.

Continuing to watch, I note that the golfer deliberately swung harder with the "APEX" club. The averages bear this out. He also didn't seem to be able to close the face and started slicing. If I were a betting person, I would bet that these two know that the apex's go shorter and swung harder to make it seem different. As I said when I tried all of this year's clubs, the titleist clubs this year are something special. Actually, I thought ping was second and PXG was ok (but sounded and also felt weird at contact, which could be just me.). I hit them all exactly the same. PXG definitely went the furthest, but also had the lowest feel. APEX was forgettable and the contact felt weird (which is probably why he is over swinging as he can't feel it). Ping was amazing, actually, but I just chose Titleist because I've already owned a set of ping's. (i10s, which were superb). Srixon was ok and mizuno was soft as butter and short (if you like that, mizuno is for you. There are a lot of things to like in that, TBH.). Not saying apex was bad, to the contrary, I just think titleist has something special this year. Probably why everyone is copying it.

Tried both head to head, feel with T150 was better, spin better, dispersion better, height better and I guess when the fitter said Callaway has recalled the heads it was a no brainer to buy the T150

which shaft to go with Callaway Apex Pro? my ball speed is only 105 mph, 7 iron average is 160 yards
@YoungMoneyInvestments
@YoungMoneyInvestments 11 ай бұрын
10 yards of rollout with a scoring iron seems like either trackman is set to overly dry conditions or he needs a higher spinning ball. Am I wrong? I’d take less distance on 7i-wedge to keep my total distance within 5 yards of my carry. I want my shots to stop on the green.
@2ndswing
@2ndswing 11 ай бұрын
The trackman settings are set to relatively dry. The carry number is the more important one to take note of in this test. With a relatively receptive green, the ball likely wouldn't move much after landing.

Agree guys this is the wrong comparison, 150 v apex cb surely, the apex pro is a players distance iron as is the t200
@grahamkirk9386

Apex pro is definitely more like an in between option from the t150 and t200. If you want some forgiveness in your long irons but don’t need the distance I think it’s a great option and if you combo them with the apex cb you can really match them up well by going weaker on all the pros and that will also help add some hight to the longer clubs. I think it’s time to stop testing 7 vs 7 and start looking at the bigger picture of what are these clubs trying to accomplish. I think the t100/1150s are a great combo option for better players and t200/t350 are great for your mid to higher handicap but going into t150/t200 for the mid low player I think is a big miss because the irons not only look different it’s hard to match up lofts. This is where callaway got it right, these irons are for your lower handicap player and have a ton of options to get the kind of club you want for each iron based on your game. Your able to get some help where you need it, hit the middle ground between forgiveness and workability where you want it, and then give yourself ultimate workability where you are comfortable. I think they did a fantastic job with the overall concept of these irons. 1 on 1 titleist is probably better, but over all I think callaway designed these for 12 and under players and they knocked it out of the park.

Great feedback. To your point, it seems manufacturers have really shifted toward building their iron designs in a way that they can be blended together smoothly. And for the record, we at 2nd Swing are absolutely proponents of combo sets. We recently spoke with some members from the Titleist team about their T-Series lineup and they said the ratio is 80-20 on tour with players playing combo sets. However, among amateurs, it's 20-80, despite amateurs seeing more benefit from a combo set.

Lol. Shot 6 with the titleist is the best swing he made. No because of disance, but because he has a mild out to in swing and hits a fade. Number 6 was the only swing where he had an out to in swing path AND closed the face to the path. Number 1 was close, but technically a huge pull (30+ feet given he'd be aiming left since he a fader). Since club path was neutral and club face was more than 1 degree closed ball goes left. just a straight pull. I'm guessing he struggles with a push and a pull, but doesn't slice or draw much. 😊

Callaway is having issues with that head, they asked all fitters to send them back to fix the sound problem. I don't think it's gonna sell very well.
