My grandfather let my sister drive, one of the front wheels got caught on a group of small trees, and it stood right up on end 😂. Sadly the output shaft broke, and it never got fixed. I wish I would have held onto it. Had an 84 Kawasaki klt200c 3 wheeler too that thing was dangerously fast!

Most ATVs will float with wide rear tires on the front wheels like this, I wonder how heavy the steering is.
@robertweniger6194
@robertweniger6194 Жыл бұрын
those atvs will not float because of the hiigh flotation tires, all that means is the tires will float to a small degree, the only atv that will float is the Argo, which by the way has the same tires, the reason it floats is the underbody whereas 3 and 4 wheeler's don't have the underbody

@@robertweniger6194 LoL who said anything about high floatation tires ? Apparently you have not riden a 3 wheeler in the water. And with the 4 wheeler I was in Louisiana and there you have no choice but to ride through deep water. So don't try to say they don't float, that is a bunch of crap.

Man I had a fight with a guy on dirt obsessions channel about the first 4x4 atvs and the first atv brands. The honcho was a 4x4 atv back in the early 70s and everyone always says Honda and Suzuki were the first atvs on the market. It always makes me laugh. We owned a honcho when I was a kid. It was slow it was hard to steer but it was actually more capable then our Honda 300. Ours had a 13hp Kawasaki engine but ended up having a 17hp Briggs swapped in after parts were discontinued for that engine.

If it has a Kohler industrial style engine, no oil filter on it so keep the oil changed regularly. It likely has just splash lubrication inside the engine. The main jet mixture screw is the one on top, idle mixture is on the side. Adjust to smoothest running. Cool rig, great video, Joe! Thanks!

That is a Kohler k181 305cc engine. The same engine put in many smaller garden tractors. They are eight horsepower at about 3,600 RPM, which is where the governor is generally set. Depending on how the throttle linkage is set up, there should be more than one hole to put the governor spring in order to turn the governor up a bit if you want. Just don't turn it up too much. Haha. 10w40 in cold weather is okay but they really should run straight 30 weight especially in summer. I've had many many years of experience with Kohler k series engines. They will last you forever if you keep the oil changed.

That thing goes through the snow better than atvs way ahead of its time and Era, it's primitive in design but it works so well for how old it is, a lot of atvs so much more powerful and higher end would get stuck at least once or twice but this thing didn't get stuck once in the video and it pulled that trailer through it with little struggle, I might try and see if I can find one and restore it if needed if I ever see one, I'm sold on that thing!

@@benscoles5085 I don't think my buddy's custom big bore banshee 4x4 would have made it through there either, he built a super cool custom frame and design to give the banshee 4wd while still making it a banshee in the same Frame dimensions, 170hp from a highly modified engine, it was a unique experience to ride a yamaha banshee with 4wd, so powerful and the turning corners at high speed is downright amazing and well planted, just and absolute tank of a machine, no experience like it, I never knew I wanted to build a 4wd banshee up until now

I guess, in your area ATV's are popular and that's why you buy and fix them, you are very good at what you do. I watched a video last night about something very interesting, the parts can be pricey but as with everything they will come down, the video was about Snow bikes (part dirt bike and part snowmobile) and the conversion kit from dirt bike to snow bike (looks like track and front ski), you will be one of the first in your area and may grow your viewership even more

4:30 "Close" call with those ramps, I have some that have a chain that goes from the middle or so, go under the ramp, and hook to the truck's hitch area so they can't slip out. Could be easy to add a d-ring on the trailer and chain/hook on your ramps or a "tooth" on the metal of the ramp that hooks into the trailer floor. Be safe out there lol

It'll probably do better on regular fuel. "Premium" isn't better. It's more knock resistance but needs higher compression to burn well. If it says 91 RON, that's more like 87 USA octane, NOT 91 octane "premium. Lowest octane without pinging is cleaner, more power, and better efficiency.

Collectors Machine, don’t beat on it. I bet if you screw around with the carb you might get more response from the throttle. NICE MACHINE‼️👍👍 Vinny 🇺🇸

OMG, this takes me back ! in the summer of 1985 (I think) my wife and I drove to upstate New York and to meet up with one of my childhood friends from Europe who was touring the US in an RV with his new bride. Anyhow in the small town they were staying at, there was a guy who was selling these ATVs. He let my friend and I take them out for a test spin around the local trails. To be honest, what I remember most was how bone shakingly uncomfortable it was due to its total lack of any suspension. I do remember crossing a small swamp on it, but I can't remember if it floated. I do remember that the lack of a rear or intermediate diff meant it did not like to turn.
