Hey when you were testing the compression and it said 60 psi that's how it's supposed to be from the factory. It's got a compression release you would have to spin the engine over with a drill to get the true compression number. Also should replace that clutch before buying anything else.

I have to ask, the bikes you pickup are usually neglected, why is it that you never wash them off before tearing into them? You’re just transferring the grim on to all the parts you pull apart. 😊. Quick ask solves the grime on your gloves transferring on to engine parts.

FYI. I've had a lot of weird things happen with condensers. 70 Challenger. When the condenser would start to go the car would start, idle perfectly, but any pressure put on it, it would break down and stall. We used to test them buy nosing your bumper up to a tree, in gear and give it a little gas. I had the same thing happen to me in an 82 boat. It would start and idle perfectly but the second you put it in gear it would stall. Had to be towed in 2 miles. Got back home and it donned on me, oh yea that what condensers do. Had two extras with me that day but never thought of it. lol Condensers will break down with time also. Never trust one over a few years old. Good luck.

Nope. Not a Honda. AT ALL, or any part of it. It is a Taiwan copy that was made back in the day and looked like a Z50, and this copy has had a Briggs engine mounted in it at some point (wasn't original to the copy bike).

That needle valve seat setting is supposed to be 1 1/2 turns out from the seated position and you shouldn't have to mess with it anymore except for to determine the high throttle speed positioning. And you don't want to force the needle vavle seat position, because you can damage the needle. But good luck

I remember doing this when I was 15 & having to do this at a mechanics club and doing it by hand on a car engine valves we weren't allowed to use the drill to do it either but it was great learning these things 💯👍🏻

Love the bike but why on God's green Earth would you not powerwash the whole machine the day before you're gonna videotape it? Then it would be much cleaner and all dried out for you.

I think it would be worth more because it’s vintage and power washing it would take some paint off

Some of those ol' school mini bike frame are designed to fit a flat head engine, and in most cases you'll have slight fabrication needed to make a honda gx style engine fit correctly.

I agree but also would be good to keep the old engine to experiment on. If he ever bought a 3in1 lathe milling machine. Use it for practice to try and bore out & install bigger piston & rings.

You pulled the upper half of the carb off with the brass tube installed. That often causes damage to the carb body. That brass tube unscrews before separating the two half's. Also I have never seen a 5hp Briggs with an updraft carb, they usually have a suction type with the gas tank attached to the carb, though the updraft should work, but was most likely off a 3hp Briggs.
