Fab tips! I use a big ikea bag for life for taking laundry out and then folding from line to the rooms. So easy and folds to nothing in a drawer x

You pretty much described my kitchen! I don't have a tumble dryer but with 2 cats that is one thing I would absolutely love to have to be honest. Nothing gets rid of pet hair better! I am Swedish but live in Scotland, and when I first arrived I found those plastic washing-up tubs really weird and quite gross. In Sweden we always have a double sink, with one bit to fill up and one bit for rinsing. Saying that, I do have one of those plastic tubs in my kitchen... I use it as an all purpose bucket type thing, and that is also what I use on the occasions I take my washing out to the drying green. For all purpose cleaner I just put a little washing-up liquid in a glass spray bottle and fill with water. Seems to do the job well enough. I enjoy your content, look forward to more! x

Thank you 🩷 I would absolutely love to visit Sweden! I've not been lucky enough to travel there yet but it's on my wishlist! I'm planning on touring Scotland next year though 🙂🚐

Lovely video. We don't own just the same things 😅😉 One game changer for me, about the rubbish situation, was to have my food waste in the freezer (in a sealed old container that I wash everytime I emptied it out); it is the only thing that I use my freezer for (I have the one that comes on top of a mini refrigirator) and I'm glad I don't ever have to clen all the liquid/bad odour from the normal bin beacuse in the freezer is kept nice and solid and odourless until I dump it in the big bin outside 😉 I took inspiration from an old video of a girl about zero waste and never gone back😌💕

i put a small bag in the freezer for trash that i throw out on trash day. i got this idea from living in the city in the summer time. With houses close together, the garbage would smell. This way with it frozen keeps it smelling nice til trash day. Even tho i am not in the city at present i still do it. All the best everyone.

Oh my goodness do I agree with #12 I had a blender that came with so many extra parts that I never used. I was also gifted a pots and pans set, with utensils as well and used only some of the set as well as the utensils. I gave what I didn't need to my sister.

It's amazing how many things we keep just because they came as part of a set!

Like someone else commented, I use an ikea bag for carrying my washing to the clothes horse. I’m going to use slightly smaller versions for dirty clothes, as our bedrooms are upstairs and laundry is down, and they are smaller and easier than hampers.

I would love such a simple kitchen. We don't have any speciality glassware because we don't drink alcohol so don't need wine, cocktail or shot glasses. We have a few highball glasses for water or juice.

Thank you for posting this. The older I get, the more realize I dont need so much stuff. So I am on my journey to declutter and minimalize. After your Video I went straight in my kitchen and declutterd tin foil, a second Citrus press and a couple of other things. Blessings from Bavaria

Isn't cling film the absolute worst! It never even worked when I had it, it just got in a tangle all the time 😆 Well done on the no tumble, I love the extra space I gained from not having it and it saves so much money on electricity 😊

Thank you so much! That's lovely of you to say so! You can do it 💪 just go through everything one draw, one cupboard at a time and whilst doing it think of the benefits that having less will entail (more time, less cleaning, a clearer head etc) and think do I really need this? Have I used it recently? Can I use something else instead? And my personal favourite-whats the worst that can happen if I let this item go? Good luck and keep me posted on your progress 🩷

Doing it after I drop my son off to school. I am excited. I have a pantry gull of stuff so that's the first thing I will be tackling! I do need space for kettle toaster and air fryer as I do use those a lot 😢 nut my kitchen is same size as yours so can make room. Thank you again.
@minimalismandmore
@minimalismandmore 4 ай бұрын
@Tollingduckie Enjoy doing that today! Don't feel bad about keeping the kettle, toaster and airfryer, even I have kept my kettle as it's convenient and my velvetiser as I love it! Removing the other items you don't want or need will naturally make more room for the items you do want to keep 🙂🩷

@minimalismandmore thank you! I literally got 3 bin bags full of rubbish that I threw out. There was alot more I could've binned but my husband wanted to keep hold of quite a few of them (he is a bit of a hoarder) but it definitely much less cluttered now. Just need to get through my cleaning products then just keep 1 for upstairs and 1 for down. Thanks again

@Tollingduckie That is amazing 👏 I bet you feel so much better now? Sometimes it takes a few goes of doing it to get it to where you want it to be. I know mine took me many many times and I'm still going! Sometimes slowly is the only way to go when you live with someone who is resisting change. Too much in 1 go is hard for them to adjust but over a few months with time in between to adjust and see the benefits can work wonders 🙂 Well done again 🩷

Thanks for sharing! My air fryer, slow cooker and microwave are all in the hallway closet. I decluttered them from the kitchen, but haven’t been able to fully let them go yet. I find large, pricy items are the hardest for me to let go of!
@minimalismandmore
@minimalismandmore 4 ай бұрын
That's awesome, well done! Half way there is still progress 👌 You may find that you love the space it frees up more than the sunken cost and by having them in the closet you will find alternative solutions with what you already have rather than the effort of getting them back out again. I'm with you on expensive items, those are tough. I combated my guilt by donating them to my neighbours and the charity British Heart Foundation as I knew deep down someone else would benefit from them more than myself. Keep me updated 🩷

Oh, we bought the air frier during the summer one year when it was very hot. My husband likes hot food, but we couldn't handle the extra heat from the oven. This was a compromise. But turns out I love certain food in it, specifically tofu. I do have a washing basin, our plug in our sink doesn't work. We've tried buying a few but couldn't get one to fit - so a basin it is. It works well in the summer as I'll often use water that isn't too dirty to water the plants (we use washing up liquid that wouldn't harm them) Every home you move to you'll find your needs change.
@minimalismandmore

Definitely! Different homes require different things and different seasons of our life also. That's why I like to continually question if items are still working for my current needs and add and subtract as required

I keep listening to this to gather some ideas. I really like your idea with your bins. I have two and they take up all the space under the sink and they smell awful. I am not a minimalist with trash and it shows dramatically. I am glad to hear you talk about the 'struggles' of not having a car.

Laundry sheet is a fresh idea, why I haven’t thought about it before? I hate all power or liquid laundry detergent, they used so much space in my cupboard and spilled everywhere when my children on the laundry duty (we share household cleaning tasks) . Another thing I don’t own is shampoo or conditioner. I use shampoo soap for all( hair body face hand) . I don’t use paper tissues. After meal we just clean our mouth and hands with water and dry with towel.

Yes I cut mine for half loads. They are great for holidays too as I go hand luggage only so taking fluids a drama at the minute. Plus they are super light to carry 😊

I just got rid of my toaster and haven't replaced the microwave that broke. Recently discovered frying toast without oil in a frying pan lol. As an English person I thought I would never be able to let go of my kettle but honestly, I'm absolutely fine not replacing it when it breaks. Plus both kettle and toaster are a pain the dogs butt to clean.

I packed away my kettle for a month to trial not using it but I found I missed it. It took a lot longer to boil water on the stove top and my saucepan didn't have a lip to pour it out easily so it just made mess and I didn't want to chuck a working kettle and have to re buy a new saucepan. I hate it on the counter though so I do pack it away in a drawer after use. I have a kitchen tour video which shows this if you fancied taking a look 😊🩷

@@minimalismandmore how many times a day do you use it? I use mine twice a day most of the time and always wonder how awk it would be. my kitchen is half the size and then again because of the annoying stair bit.
@minimalismandmore
@minimalismandmore 4 ай бұрын
@extrememinimalism I use both a fair amount 🙄 I'm a stereotypical UK person with my hot drinks! I don't find it as annoying as I thought I would, as it's worth not having the visual clutter to me. I am tempted to drill a hole in the the side of the drawer unit and pass the plugs through as I have a plug there for my fridge already. I just need to find someone who had the drill bit I need 1st. I could then just open the drawer and boil the kettle/velvetizer and then close once it's cooled down 🙂
