These are bad times, and I don't know if they'll ever get better. A year has passed since the world was changed forever. Everyone in this town lost people they cared about, and the fields between towns got a lot rougher and filled with deadly creatures. It's a brave man who travels between any two towns these days, but from what little news we've gotten from other towns, ours was one of the lucky ones. It's become nearly impossible to grow food, find drinkable water and extract natural resources. Most things about the old world have already been forgotten by all; we can barely survive, let alone keep the knowledge of the past. And His High Exaltedness, the Glorious Lord Kefka, rules it all with an iron fist from his twisted throne on the top floor of the twisted remains of the Empire's capital. He strikes down people, houses, and even occasionally entire towns with no pattern we can decipher. The best we can do to avoid his wrath is avoid notice and hide all our hopes for our future from everyone.
