I have same kit. Ran it for a year so far and last week i got fed up with the ride quality. The control arm drop brackets suck with the cam lock bolts so i ordered the "rancho" geometry drop brackets and also an adjustable trac bar for front and rear from rough country. I would highly recommend those products to go along with this lift kit because ur axles will be about half an inch off from center. Now the ride quality is better then stock and i couldnt be happier.

Great video, very helpful! I will say when you remove the drag link and pitman arm bolts, it's always best to rethread the nut back on a little bit so when it pops off it doesn't fall on you.

I would have to agree with this. I have had it fall before and scare the heck out of me. Thread the nut on about 5 full turns and it prevents that from happening.

As a 52yo man that just installed the Mopar 4" lift on a 2017 JKU Rubicon Recon, I can tell you that installing a lift from Jack stands in your driveway or concrete floor garage, you will definitely feel this for a few days after. Btw 7-8hrs install haha. I spent an 8 hour day just doing the rear, new brake lines etc. and another 9hrs the next day to do the front. I still have to install the new drive line double carden 1310 and the steering link swap. Good luck trying to do this by yourself in 8hrs on jackstands in your driveway.

It can be done. It just depends on experience and being organized. I installed a 4.5" BDS lift on my GMC 2500HD in 8 hrs. And that was by myself in my garage on jack stands.

I appreciate the video! It was great using it as a guide. I notice that you installed the new sway bar end links that are provided with the kit in the front at about the 44min mark. I think the old rear end links are suppose to be installed in the front and the new ones are suppose to be in the rear.

losfresnos65 Thanks for watching, I hope you subscribed. I can’t remember if she had other links for the front and that’s the reason I did not put the rears up front, I appreciate your comments

Great Video! Now I’m confident I can do it myself and save $350 in labor cost to get lift installed. How long did it take you install by yourself?

I agree! Great Video! I have one question. The instructions by rough country tell you to install the new sway bar links on the rear and take the old ones off of the rear and install them on the front. Personally I just purchased new ones with Grease Zirks for the front and installed the new ones from the kit on the rear. Is there a reason you did it this way? Probably does not make a difference but I am just curious!
@4WDTrek
@4WDTrek 3 жыл бұрын
@@waynethornsbury21 The kit is made to save some money from the manufacturer and in turn, save you money. Or so they claim. The rear sway bar end links are longer than the fronts. So When you do a lift, you need longer sway bar end links. Moving the rears up to the front gives it the longer end links that are needed, so the kit only needs to supply the rear end links. If you have new end links for the front, I would suggest using them if they are the correct longer length for the lift.

I have this lift and have had it on my jeep for about 6 months now. I would say, when done correctly, this kit makes it ride just like stock, if not slightly better. On road handling is great. Off road handling is even better. I do some light rock crawling and trail riding as well as overlanding. Took the jeep from Washington state to Moab Utah, driving 16 hours each way non stop and it handled just like a normal vehicle. If you wish to see the kit in action, I do have some videos posted on some trails if you wish to check it out.

Regarding That Lift kit, Is there a need to Modify drive shaft.
@ItsaJeepWorld
@ItsaJeepWorld 4 жыл бұрын
EcoBoost 2.7 No need to modify the rear shaft. Front shaft is accommodated by an exhaust spacer which I was told by the owner they didn’t want it installed. Keep an eye on the front driveshaft angle while in 4wd and if you start seeing grease spraying up in the aluminum shielding then you’ll need an aftermarket double cardon front shaft. It’s hit or miss to replace initially if you don’t know what kind of driving you will do. 3.5 is the borderline for 2007-2011, 2012-2018 can handle it a bit better due to redesigned exhaust and different motor. If you are going to be doing moderate to advanced wheeling, I’d change the front driveshaft at the same time with 3.5” lift and higher. I hope that helps
@4WDTrek
@4WDTrek 3 жыл бұрын
I did this same kit and am running 35s on my 2012. I did not actually install the spacer for the exhaust and have no issues at all with flexing and hitting the drive shaft. I do quite a bit of wheeling and flex it pretty hard and still have not noticed anything rubbing on my drive shaft. If you wish to see some of it in action, I do have some videos up on my channel with that lift on it

Is it the same process to do a 2020 jl?
@ItsaJeepWorld
@ItsaJeepWorld 3 жыл бұрын
That is a very good question. I did not know. The oil cooler/filter was updated in 2016/2017 I believe so this should not be an issue on the JL 3.6, but to my knowledge the 3.6 did not change in the JL
