In which I cover 3 fantastic games from the DCC set by Goodman Games. Check them out (and look at others - there are soooo many great adventures for DCC!) They're all (at the time of this video's release) on sale on DTRPG:
#67 - Sailors of the Starless Sea:

#66.5 - Doom of the Savage Kings:

DCC is my game of choice, and has been for a few years now. I've had 10x more fun with this system than I've ever had with 5E. Can definitely recommend it.

Man, I love DCC. I'm not normally into class/level based games, but I love this game. I've run Sailors and Doom of the Savage King. When I ran Sailors, the PCs were getting crazy good roles (and made some good choices) and did shockingly well. Savage King had a lot of stuff I liked. When I did it, I cut the opening encounter, because I didn't see any way for the players to go through it and not come out with the whole village being deeply antagonistic toward them. Otherwise, it works pretty well as a more sand-boxy type scenario. I won't go too into my actual game, but the highlights were when one of the PCs who had an MCC mutation where he could hit people with lightning, ended up doing a crazy lightning attack on the human villain, taking him out in one shot. And when trying to fight the hound-monster, a wizard tried to shrink it, and ended up making it bigger, which lead to much amusement (for me). I think my actual favorite funnel is Portal Under the Stars from the basic book. It covers so much in such a short amount of time. It's very difficult, but also has some interesting tricks for players to discover. I'm hoping to run Creep Skrag Creep soon. Basically Alien (1979) on a pirate ship.

That sounds amazing! Also, Portal under the Stars is great- my players made out like bandits on that one, with some amazingly clever play!! I was honestly considering adding Creep Skrag Creep into this review, since it felt soooo thematically awesome!

DCC produces the best published fantasy adventures ever, period. There's no contest. I don't use the rule system, but I swear by the adventures and converting to your OSR of choice is not laborious.

I've been running DCC for the last year plus. I'm not really a fan of the system as there's too much looking stuff in tables, but the adventures are amazing and they've got some of the best writers in the business. Harley Stroh, in particular, is a mad genius.

That is precisely how I feel. I'm not hugely interested in running a long-term DCC campaign (although funnels and one-shots are super fun). However, the adventures for it are top-notch!

Hey, look at that, wonder how you got inspired to review these modules 😊 Journey to the center of Aereth is really something special. I read it recently and thought that it would make a great end to an underground campaign. As for the other two adventures, they are classics, perfect campaign starters.
