Those low voltage shorts have been a common thing for me this summer. I don’t understand what some guys have against zip ties, cheap insurance. Great video Ryan

Great video. This is the first time I had ever heard of rubout! And I watched tons of HVAC videos. I really appreciate the thoroughness of your video, and your inspection. Hopefully your client follows through with your recommendations for wiring. That’s a lot less expensive solution than having to buy a whole new system When it Mutilates itself due to some low-voltage wiring problem in the future, it could’ve been solved for 5% of a new system cost. Great job! Keep up the great work.

yep the old slinger was rubbing, those are designed to prevent the ingress of water into the motor by slinging it away

I was told somewhere that the fan motor is supposed to always pull the rated amps, not rated or less like compressors. If it's that low, it indicates a weak motor or weak capacitor. So I'm told...but that could have been wrong. It made sense though. Similar to power factor should be as close to 1.0 as possible.

I’m not sure. Rick is on the Misfits podcast tomorrow night, I’m going to ask him about this.

For psc motors yes within 10 percent of its Fla. the less static the higher the amps. With all covers and clean filters you should be within 1 amp of Fla. this I was told in school. Ecm and 3 phase is another story
@realSamAndrew11 ай бұрын
@@acrservicesmathewr7565 for condenser motors, you always have the same air resistance as long as the coil is clean. So it should always be pretty much the same amps. 10 percent sounds right, 1 amp sounds iffy, when many CFM are only rated like 0.9 to 1.2 amps to begin with. Thanks for weighing in 👍👍

Hey man you're a great mechanic. If HVACR didn't have any real-world consequences or money involved, it would be just an interesting game/puzzle that we play for fun ya know. Thanks for your help in this trade.

Generally a 30 amp will have screw wire connections and a 40 amp will have lugs
